I think so because I thought people didn't want to get spoiled. I also remember, Covid restrictions here were still very strict that time. The nearest cinema to me didn't even open until October 2022.Too bad, right, since the Philippines is really huge on Marvel movies. FAR FROM HOME made 10.6M. HOMECOMING made 7.5M.

 

If not for Covid, NO WAY HOME could have done 18M - 23M, imo.

The Reason actually is very simple,NWH release in something called Philippines national movie event,during NWH period ,most of Philippines cinema supported local movie ,with NWH only run in few cinemas

Spider-Man is popular in Philippines than almost any other countries in the world,Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie break philippines box office record in a row(All 3 movies break Philippines box office record which is insane),Even The Amazing Spider-Man also break in Top 5 all time grosser at the time,it’s safe to say Spider-Man is more popular in Philippines than he is in even New York city.

There’s also a survey shows 98% of all age Philippines heard of Marvel brand,and Spider-Man even more famous than Marvel itself.,consider this,NWH at least reach 6-7m admission in Normal situation,possible beat Endgame like what it had done in Mexico.

Inside Out 2 only needs around ₱125 million for two days to match the record so that's atleast $1 millon per day but we have to see if it gets a sizable bump. I'm not sure if piracy is hurting it so much since some who are boycotting/piracy-ing are not going to see it in the cinema in the first place.

To be fair, the Metro Manila Film Festival of that year was a disaster. Operating cinemas were down to 1/3 of the usual number and people were still afraid to go out. It was really Covid and its restrictions that prevented people from seeing the movie.

As I said, NWH was doing 6M admits with ease there and DS2 was probably going to do 3-4M as well.

 

Hopefully DP3 can correct it and hit 4-5M.
