I remembered it being slightly freighting yet magical. I never got that vibe. The effects are terrible, the cinematography is pretty bland, the musical score didn't quite get me, I had a hard time staying engaged.I watched it like a month ago, the details have vacated my mind, I was just throughly disappointed. It still gets 2 stars out of 5 so it could be much worse but I was sad I couldn't give it higher because I remember really liking this as a kid.

I watched it as a kid, I loved it, one of my favorites back then.

 

I watched it again today, and I still loved it : a lot of emotions, funny scenes, I love the characters and it's really moving, particularly when Alan is back in the factory and learns his father did everything and gave everything to retrieve him (great music helped)..And the end with his father

I didn't know until today that the little girl was Kirsten Dunst

 

I gave it a A, you can be sure I will watch it again and it will be one of the first movies my kids will see when I am a father ^^
