I was disappointed how underwritten Kerry Washington's character was. 

There were scenes in the original script where she got rapped, in the movie the sex slave thing is implied, not shown.

Yeah the whole Scotty's plotline (SBC character) was indeed planned to develop Broomhilda's story in parallel of Django's but it got scrapped because it was too long.

There was an awesome scene in the Django script early on in Candieland where Django is slapping Stephen around and giving him shit for being an uncle Tom. It was great, and I think it was filmed cos I remember seeing an SLJ interview where he said he was really disappointed it was cut.

She was window dressing and that's all. But QT definitely deserves a pass on this one because outside of Reservoir Dogs basically all of his filmography is filled with layered, female heroes.
