Her red hair was distracting. During most scenes, I was only staring at them. They seem so silky and smooth even when she was in the most remote places of Pakistan, I couldn't stare elsewhere at the screen.

Riva doesn't look like she gives a shit. At least she's enjoying it all. She looked delighted at LAX today albeit in a wheelchair. I wonder how she is going to walk the red carpet tomorrow..... But at least the producers reportedly out her in the middle front row so it won't be a Jessica Tandy moment were the poor 80 year old had to walk quite the distance (for 80) to the podium tomorrow night.

Exactly. Red is just a distracting hair colour in general. A blonde like Brooklyn Decker or a brunette like Megan Fox would've suited the part better IMO.

This season has been strange. Normally 3-4 nominees really want it, this year there's 1. Even Watts seems to be just enjoying the show.

Chastain is killing herself to get it which is completely ridiculous since the line-up of actress who deserve to get the Oscar before her is long. Two names out of many - Julianne Moore and Amy Adams.

 

Also, her talk about struggle is pure garbage. Actors don`t stuggle ever since DtD and webisodes exploded. No more classic waiting tables+doing porn to pay utility bills. There`s plenty of work, just not top work.

 

And, yes, red hair is distracting in a movie about catching Osama Bin Laden, as if all the character cared for, aside catching the bitch, was dying her hair the exact shade for 10 freakin years.

She may be a natural red but her red is bottle. Just because one is natural blonde, red or brunette it doesn`t mean they don`t dye their hair a more flattering shade. Real life red shades are different from Chastain`s.

 

Besides, if she could don a Goth wig for mama, she could have donned more neutrail wig for ZDT. But I guess Bigelow liked the whole Mary Sue apprearance. I call it Mary Sue ebcause Sues usually have red hair since it isn`t as usual as other colors. isn`t Mara Jade a readhead?

Bingo. The obvious Only One Mary Sue with a bit of Cassandra trope. That's Maya's characterization, plain and simple. Red hair to remind us that trope every single second of the movie is the kind of subtlety so delightful and definetely not on the nose at all.
