I appreciate your insight Tele. Thank you for wording it the way that you did. You don't come off as pretentious but somebody you can actually explain why they feel the way they do.

Dammit, I was trying to be pretentious as fuck! :angry:

I should've used oeuvre and mise en scène. :D

I disagree with u 100%. You come ogf as very condescending Dont take me for someone with no experience. I HAVE DIRECTED befofore. Look if you see something in the film that I don't that is fine. But to me the camera was stationary the whole film it didn't move it wasn't much for directing job. You say that you can see what he intended with every shot. That is just a fancy way of saying you have no idea what he wanted to do with each shot. Sorry but yoir post comes off as incredibly pretentious.

And this just sounds condescending. I will have you know that I know what I'm talking about with each shot. I recently wrote two pieces one on the aesthetic value of the movie and another on the intent of the last scene.Just because the camera doesn't move doesn't mean that there's no directing involved. By your logic then Ozu didn't ever do much of a directing job. And this is speech to text right? Cus I had a bit of a hard time reading some of it.

They're both great, but since she's nominated I think he should've at least been nominated as well. I certainly won't complain if she wins tho.

After Haneke got nominated I was definitely expecting a Trintignant nomination. I expect he came 6th or 7th.

Speaking of difficult movies to sit through, I had a very hard time with Boys Don't Cry and Monster.The parts played by Charlize and Swank were baity but God, it was so harsh, psychologicaly violent that I am still amazed AMPAS voted for these two performances.Those two movies are more depressive and bleak than any horror movie.Would you say Amour is as tough as Monster and Boys don't Cry in the bleak departement ?
