Plain Old Tele

The VFX Industry is in trouble (general discussion)

Yep, that s what liberalism and capitalism are all about, competition & minimum costs.

There are just too many houses and prices are getting down because VFX houses are opening all over the world every month.

That s why even ILM opened offices in Singapour, to outsource the fastidious work to people who are paid 2 dollar a shot.

And if you look at the big studio tentpoles, you ll see how the situation is completely fucked up, 18 houses worked on IM 3 : 18 !!!

Post production was very short for such a big movie hence this big mess.

Good luck finding who did what on that movie and countless others.

IM3 was a bit fat mess in general.

There are some directors thankfully that still have some honor and respect, and stick with VFX houses that they like and have a relationship with, as opposed to directors who jump around to different VFX houses from film to film.

It's simple, pay the actors less money and distribute the saving to companies that need/deserve it more. Johnny Depp doesn't need 95m for 1 movie when it only takes up a couple of months of work, its ridiculous.
