Gideon
lol Horses don't talk in Rapunzel world. What about horses in Brave?
AniNate
No talking in Brave either. If anything it's more "realistic" than Tangled.
Gideon
hmm i see. Mulan had a talking dragon. (Muchu, right? lol) I don't remember if her black horse talk too or not.
Rudolf
I read the reviews on RT. They are not very good. When someone praises the technical side, you know that there is something lacking elsewhere. The hair animation is really well done, but so much realism there only shows that the characters are not live size. I always doubted the existence of an uncanny valley effect, but for me this is off-putting. The first pictures last year promised more realism in the animation. I was looking forward to epic sceenery. The backgrounds are fine enough but the characters went the wrong way. Children will probably love that. I doubt that Brave will become a classic, a yardstick to measure other animation movies. From what I know about the plot the story seems to have gone an easy route not alienating the younger kids. I hope that someday someone commanding a similar budget will dare to make a more adult movie.
fishstick
Very happy to see this getting a great response thus far. It isn`t getting a great response. It`s getting an OK response. When a movie is called "safe" that`s not great. Edited June 13, 2012 by fishnets
kayumanggi
It isn`t getting a great response. It`s getting an OK response. When a movie is called "safe" that`s not great. How about an Ok-great response?

kayumanggi
Some of the reviews say BRAVE is the animated film to beat this award season. Well I guess, "the film to beat" is something "just OK".
kayumanggi
Todd McCarthy on TANGLED An old-fashioned Disney fairy tale gussied up in 3D for the holidays. FRESH Todd McCarthy on BRAVE Pixar's 13th feature plays it safe and old-fashioned rather than risky and adventurous. ROTTEN
whoot
Yep, double standard. Should have gone with Cars 3 and 4 first for sure.
Hiccup
Crap Pixar looks like it has another miss. Hopefully Monsters University isn't shitty because I am really looking forward to that
kayumanggi
Yep, double standard. Should have gone with Cars 3 and 4 first for sure. And please don't tell me TANGLED was risky and adventurous. This critic is just...
kayumanggi
BRAVE is in fact riskier because TANGLED has the "prince" character to magnetized the young boys. While in BRAVE it's just Merida and her mom, two female characters.
The Futurist
Pixar bashing. That was bound to happen. People got bored saying how amazing they were, except for Baumer I guess. Now it s backlash time for no particluar reason. Madagascar 3 got great reviews. For no particular reason either.
MagnetMan
I am 99% sure this film will appeal to me because it's Pixar. And even when I don't see the initial draw (like I didn't with Ratatouille), I have learned that Pixar WILL deliver. That being said, I think Brave is having a Ratatouille effect on me so far. I see that it will be tackling a heavy subject with fate and breaking molds, it just simply hasn't hit me in the gut... YET.
kayumanggi
Yeah, MADAGASCAR: EMW got great reviews because their standard for DW movies had been so low "funny and colorful" is now great. Edited June 13, 2012 by kayumanggi
druv10
Crap Pixar looks like it has another miss. Hopefully Monsters University isn't shitty because I am really looking forward to that Another miss? It's at 86% on RT and there's no sign that it's a failure.

The Futurist
Toy Story movies are my least favorite Pixar films. I don't get the nostalgia about plastic shit made in China in labour camps. At all. Up bores me and I don't like old people.
