  1. So many people around here have no memory of the glorious updates from Nikki. Deadline’s updates have never been the same since she left. They certainly are not anywhere as entertaining.
  2. That’s a -14% change for AQP from Wednesday which is solid, all things considered. It probably caught some AIW overflow. It it is still going to be a rough weekend for all holdovers. It was -46% compared to last Thursday (when it increased over the day before). Some films will certainly see drops of 60% or more with Super Troopers 2 probably closer to -70%.
  3. Rampage lost 15% of its theaters this week. Theater losses now take effect on Thursday evenings instead of Friday due to the Thursday event kick-off for new releases now. Not only that but Rampage dropped from two or three screens to a single screen at many locations (and from three or more to just two). The same is true for A Quiet Place and pretty much all of the holdovers. Anything that is not AIW is down to a single screen at most cineplexes with 6-15 or so screens.
  4. Black Panther had a higher PTA than Rampage did yesterday: $316 vs. $279.
  5. There are days on this forum when people make me rethink my policy against having an ignore list. Some things are simply not funny.
  6. BP down 8% from Tuesday; up 21% from a week ago Wednesday.
  7. I will be making no edits to my submitted list even though I did find a couple of other films I should have included. Then again, my name is not in the list above so maybe it was never received.
  8. For comparison later today, here are the relevant BP numbers: Wednesday, April 18: $505K Tuesdsy, April 24: $661K
  9. IFP is positioned as the ideal demographic counter programming to this weekend’s behemoth. I would not be surprised if it holds better than everything except BP. I only thought the movie was so-so but there is undoubtedly an opening in the marketplace for the film this weekend.
  10. That is a 7.65% increase for Black Panther over last Tuesday’s $614K.
  11. I am a tough sell when it comes to horror films but a bad ass Jamie Lee Curtis hunting Michael Myers in the new Halloween film will have my butt parked in a seat on opening day.
  12. Changes from Monday and last Tuesday: AQP: +35% & -35% R: +49% & -44% RPO: +33% & -35%
  13. A more interesting bet would BP taking over RPO or B by Friday, even if only temporarily.
  14. Is anyone besides me intentionally not seeing AIW this weekend? I just don’t feel like fighting the crowds and the parking headaches. I’ll venture to see it next week possibly.
  15. Here is another member of the 20 times club, provided he attends the showings he purchased for the next couple of days. A couple of the showings in his video are additional tickets he bought for others for his showings. Only the showings were counted, not the extra tickets. Insane attendance of this movie is a badge of honor for some people.
  16. It surely has to be at the top of the list of films to receive spillover business from AIW when people show up to the theater and AIW is sold out.
  17. That Blockers hold this weekend was pretty impressive in the face of two new comedies opening, one of which being another R rated comedy. It's going to lose a lot of screens this week due to it being ninth of out ten for PTA in the Top 10, though. Still, it should end up north of $65M which is surely far more than was expected.
  18. There is a small army of people who have seen it 20+ times. I have posted a few in this thread and there are others. I am guessing that number increases by 20 fold or more if you just count the number of people who have seen it 5+ times. Moviepass has almost certainly enabled this. It's simply amazing how a $40M grosser has so many repeat viewers and by repeat, I mean more than twice. I think Amateur status for Love, Simon begins at three viewings.
  19. Here's yet another member of the 20 or More Club. The people who love this movie, really, really love this movie.
  20. The first half of the film is pleasant and mildly humorous. It's a typical comedy with touches of a rom com interspersed. Unfortunately the film goes south once Renee abandons her friends at dinner to join her co-workers. Pretty much everything after that point is either stupid or nonsensical and definitely not funny. The redemption arc with the friends was unsubstantial and I don't know how or why Renee wasn't yanked off the stage by security when she took over the presentation. I don't have many qualms with the resolution with the boyfriend since it seemed like he never really thought they had broken up. Regardless, the last half of the film is a mess. Michelle Williams was truly magnificent, though. I am kind of wondering if she was given an entirely different script than all of the other actors as her character seemed like she belonged in a different movie. In fact, I want to track down some interviews with Williams where she talks about her character and the choices she made. Hopefully she doesn't have to wait too many more years before she wins an overdue Oscar as she is certainly the best actress of her generation without an Academy Award with her name on it. My score: 5/10
