Is there a list of theaters that will be playing it? I usually wouldn't go out of my way to see a film like this but judging the circumstances I feel that it's my duty in support of creative freedom/expression as an American so if there is a theater within not-too-far driving distance I make make the trip to see this.
China finally lets us know what they think: http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/21/7430377/china-criticizes-us-and-sony-pictures-says-the-interview-is-nothing
They say it's "nothing to be proud of". I say "we'll be the judge of that".
Considering how Kim Jong-il once kidnapped a South Korean director and forced him to make films for him over a period of several years, you would figure we'd overlook the threats and release this film out of sheer poetic justice.
Interstellar is gonna take a hit this weekend, I just hope Christmas/New Years will be enough to get it past $180.
Big Hero 6 is showing some great resilience recently in the wake of Penguins and Hobbit.
Tbh both the theater chains and Sony let us down big time today. I don't know which we should be more angry at.
Seriously, come on pirate kings. Now is your chance to prove you promote freedom of speech and entitlement to art or whatever it is you proclaim and leak this sucker big time.
I'm holding out for the independently owned theater back near my hometown (in FUCK YEAH 'MURICA land) to be playing it. If they are I'll be there opening day.
Seriously though, is this all it takes to make us- citizens of a country that prides itself on being strong and proud of who we are- get nervous and completely give up? Whether or not North Korea is involved with this at all I'm pretty sure we look like a huge clusterfuck of pussies to them and everyone else out there now.
It's a 26% increase which means it was pretty much not hurt by the Hobbit and losing supposed IMAX screens at all.
EDIT: Though the real trial will be today. I don't know how many theaters it is losing in addition to most IMAX's, but don't be surprised to see a high 30s or maybe even low 40% dip going into Wednesday. Depending on the theater loss, anyway.
