  1. Why would she talk about you like that? So mean.
  2. The drops are kind of expected after an unusually great Monday plus the one-two punch of Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day along with the usual cheap Tuesday boosts.
  3. I'm seeing it again this weekend, so we'll see. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it again.
  4. Just got back. A fun visual treat from WDA, with a lot of fun comic book-ish action, goofy humor, and a lot of heart. Unfortunately it doesn't quite develop the characters enough for me. The entire last act could have used more time instead of rushing the climax. I think another 15 minutes or so there could have made a world of difference. I liked it, didn't love it. B
  5. 70mm IMAX is fucking awesome. I really hope, even if IMAX themselves get rid of them soon, someone else comes along one of these days and starts another chain of a similar format or something.
  6. So after a few days of letting the movie sit on my mind and thinking it over, I'll settle for a solid "B". Nolan definitely went outside of his own comfort zone here in a very big way. Hard sci-fi and Spielberg-ish family drama intertwined with that. I give him a lot of credit for using his big budget director status in this way by doing something different for him as well as something wildly ambitious. He's still among my favorite directors in Hollywood right now and this just furthers that for me. Now for the actual film. It's not perfect. Far from it, actually. There is some odd pacing at times and the tonal switches, wild very mild, are definitely there. I have to say there are parts of each act I loved and parts I disliked. I know they were driving the relationship with Cooper and Murph a lot, but honestly it kind of seemed like at times Tom (the brother) was the redheaded stepchild. I mean, yeah he's older than Murph and maybe as a boy growing into a man he's trying not to be sentimental about his father leaving on a potentially dangerous mission into space where they may never see each other again, both him and his father just seem to shrug it off initially. Though I guess it is helped a bit by Tom pretty much being the only one to stay in some form of contact with Cooper via the messages, and Cooper always refers to him along with Murph when speaking with others, so I guess I can't focus too much on that. I just couldn't help but shake the feeling it was very one sided. The space exploration stuff was awesomely solid. The pacing gets kind of slow at some points, but ultimately the movie does keep going and it is for the better. A bit too much exposition as some people often joke Nolan is responsible for, but in some cases in this movie the over explaining actually helped. If I wasn't already told Matt Damon was going to be in the film his role would have been an incredible surprise. Unfortunately I already knew the moment they walked into the base he would probably be playing Mann. Acting was phenomenal, probably one of the highlights of the film. Matthew McConaughey continues his hot streak here. Those last 20-30 minutes were probably my favorite. To be honest I know Nolan probably didn't want to make things a complete tripfest but I would have enjoyed more of the 2001-inspired crazy shit like that. At least it ended the film on a high note. Also, the film was a lot funnier than I thought it was. The audience had a handful of good laughs, half of them being from TARS. Also worth noting this was the first 70mm IMAX film I've ever seen. And goddamn was it worth it. That 70mm projection really helped make this movie an experience. From those vast cornfields on earth to the deep depths of space and unique planets, it was a wonder to behold. This was a movie made from the ground up for this format, and I'm happy to have experienced it in that. Overall, a great effort from Nolan. Not his best movie, but I applaud him for going outside of his comfort zone and doing something different and taking full advantage of his status right now. The passion that went into making this film is clear and every bit is on screen. I hope he keeps challenging himself as a director, because I can definitely see that ending up in another masterpiece like The Dark Knight one of these days. My grade stands as a solid "B". I enjoyed it about as much as GOTG, DOFP, and Apes in terms of 2014 films, maybe a bit of an edge to Interstellar thanks to originality and the IMAX epicness.
  7. Sounds like we know who'll be first in line for AoU come May 1st.
  8. I actually watched Snowpiercer the other day for the first time thanks to Netflix. Gotta say I think people hyped it up a bit much cause I was a little underwhelmed. Still a good movie.
  9. This is a really controversial subject matter but one can argue that the shooting pretty much effected the box office for a couple of months. Things didn't really completely rebound until WiR and Skyfall.
  10. I don't really care anymore. 2014 is done for me. Bring on 2015.
  11. Mall of Georgia was the only 70mm showing in the state. I'm surprised it wasn't higher. The showing I was at was really packed but not quite sold out. Then again it was 11am.
  12. I'm starting to think a better release date could have helped a bit. If the third installment in that overly drawn out trilogy wasn't coming out I'd say it should have taken that mid-December date.
  13. FWIW the audience I saw Interstellar with seemed to really enjoy it.
  14. Wow. Just. Wow. This was the first movie I'm ever seen in true 15/70 IMAX and probably the last but I am glad my experience with the format can be defined with this movie. I'm still letting it all sink in and I really can't even give a solid rating for it right now but I will say I loved it. I'm still hoping to see it at least a couple more times so I can let it sink in. Interstellar is one of the most ambitious movies ever put on film and I definitely believe most, if not every filmmaker out there in modern Hollywood definitely needs to take some notes from this movie. Not saying it is the best movie of all time, but it certainly takes you to heights blockbusters rarely reach. I'll say more later but I'll just say now I was quite impressed.
  15. Hopefully Rth will come by with updated numbers soon. This shit from Gitesh and Deadline rarely ends up right but they do actually end up showing the pattern the box office ended up going in after Rth's initial afternoon post. So if they are reporting lower for Interstellar chances are it trended down since Rth last updated.
  16. Both movies will probably get good Saturday increases. BH6 is a given for around a 50% increase being a family film, maybe a bit higher. Interstellar because these long running epics tend to get solid Saturday boosts.
  17. Spidey Freak was most certainly referring to himself. I mean he is probably the only ASM2 fan other than iJack.
  18. Well he had nothing to do with any of the other three so his absence I will accept. Besides he needs to be making Tomorrowland the best it can be.
  19. Okay so after calming down and reading the article I do see that apparently the entire Pixar braintrust had involvement with the story. That is good. I seriously still don't know where they could go from there though. And, I mean, seriously how many good fourth movies are there that have come after three consistently good ones?
