  1. Again I think saying North Korea is capable of a mass hack like this is giving them an awful lot of undeserved credit. Whoever is doing it though is winning and that is a bad thing.
  2. The Dark Knight - A+ The Prestige - A Memento - A The Dark Knight Rises - A- Batman Begins - A- Inception - A- Interstellar - B+ Insomnia - B- Following is practically a student film so I won't rank that one along them but it's alright for what it is.
  3. Also remember what nation this is. I think saying North Korea is responsible for the hacking is giving them... A lot of credit.
  4. Jesus, Sony. Just release the movie and go balls deep. The worst that can happen has already happened. The whole 9/11 threats, while they shouldn't be ignored, are fucking ludicrous anyway. The way I see it when this happens just embrace the controversy and use it to help propel the film to the highest level of awareness possible, release it in a shit ton of theaters, and then try your best to make it a huge profit. I mean, in light of all the money they are about to lose you'd figure they would be trying to make it as profitable as possible.
  5. Losing IMAX (along with probably its first big theater count drop that weekend) will definitely hurt Interstellar come next weekend, but luckily for it the Christmas/New Years stretch should more than help it rebound from that from the theaters still playing it (I imagine around 1500, give or take a couple of hundred). $180 million is all but locked.
  6. Whatever the North Koreans originally thought this hacking thing would do has completely blown up in their face. They've increased interest in this movie by so much now. Wouldn't be surprised to see it to This Is The End numbers now.
  7. That 49.2% drop for Interstellar this weekend looks sexy even if it will end up being 52-53% with actuals.
  8. Interstellar increased this weekend and that is legitimately all I care about here. Lets go $175 million
  9. Don't talk to adults that way, young man. Moana has a better chance at fulfilling expectations than those two do, IMO. Plus you are also comparing sequels to original ideas, it's pretty much a different ballgame.
  10. The animated film market is definitely going to be an interesting thing to watch in the next couple of years. Every studio seems to want 2-3 films a year as was mentioned earlier. Obviously WDA and Pixar are in the best shape, mainly WDA. Pixar will probably be able to get Inside Out/Good Dinosaur above or around $250 million assuming the quality is there. Minions should also do well, I'm not going to call it a shoe-in for $200 million, but as far as the "funny side-character spin-offs" go, Minions will probably do way more than Puss in Boots and Penguins. It also helps that Universal is putting it out while Despicable Me is in, and not 10 years later after the franchise's peak is long gone. The way I see it though, as saturated as the market is right now, the only animated films that have shots at doing $300 million or more will be the Disney musicals (so Moana being the next) and probably the next Despicable Me depending on quality. It'd be wrong to count out Finding Dory and Toy Story 4 but those films have a lot to live up to.
  11. That is a sexy number for Interstellar. Could do $16 million for the weekend and hopefully make it to $175-180 million. Exodus and Hobbit will do doubt hurt it but right after hopefully whatever theaters are still playing it will give it a good holiday boost.
  12. I'm glad they are filming on 35mm film over digital. I wonder if the rumors of IMAX footage will end up true, which would make sense why they went with Hoytema since after Interstellar he probably knows the cameras inside and out.
  13. Late legs are coming in. On the road to taking down Avatar now.
  14. That's an optimistic way of saying "impending disaster".
  15. What? This seems like a really inaccurate way to gauge something.
  16. Lol, 2014 is officially the shittiest box office year ever.
  17. Ethan is just shitting on the movie because he won't even be able to buy a ticket without a fake ID.
