  1. Kind of crazy how DOFP is going to have topped the last two films in the series by the end of it's second weekend.
  2. I still think it's possible for AoU to pretty much pull a SM2 and do a little bit less than it's predecessor, even if it's more acclaimed. Actually I think that is more likely, even if doing a "little less" is barely making or missing $600 million domestic.
  3. I just need someone to tell us that ASM2 is looking at an X-Men induced 60% drop this weekend and won't make it past $200 million after all.
  4. Holy shit Godzilla is getting rocked this weekend. Hopefully ASM2 is as well.
  5. As much as I love several of the big superhero movies I do hope it dies down eventually. I'm sort of tired with superhero films cluttering the release schedule.
  6. Should we all do the mother of all rankings and rank every Marvel movie ever? From Howard the Duck to DoFP.
  7. People who liked Amazing Spider-Man 2 need to go watch Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 so they can be shown what a good Spidey film is like.
  8. So looks like the range for the 3-day is $83-93 million. Not quite the $100 million I was hoping for but still fantastic and a huge increase over the last two installments. Plus it still has a shot to beat ASM2 which would just be icing on the cake.
  9. Godzilla's problems did not fall on the way Godzilla was introduced or handled. Honestly that was the best part. What held Godzilla back from being a great movie (instead of a mildly entertaining one) was the rather generic human story and ATJ's apparent miscast.
  10. X-Men is doing a $100 million 3-day, unless these Friday estimates are way high.
  11. They've managed to make X-Men an event movie again. Something they haven't been able to do since 2006.
  12. If X-Men opens on the higher end of the current estimate ($42 million) it could potentially make a run at $100 million 3-day.
  13. Next week if Maleficent or A Million Ways to Die break out people will be scared that X-Men has a big (though in retrospect perfectly normal) drop.
  14. My mistake. You started out talking about X-Men and I just assumed you stayed on that subject.
  15. Effectively doubled The Wolverine's preview gross. $90-100 million 3-Day seems likely.
