  1. There’s literally nothing between the thrilling but been-there-done-that action sequences. You feel every second of its runtime, especially in the third act, despite being bombarded with heavy doses of adrenaline. Some say who cares about the story, it’s all about the stunts. It’s never about the stunts. 6/10
  2. the only good one is 3. 4 and 5 are rollercoaster type of movies, thrilling and entertaining while watching, zero lasting impression afterwards. 1 is there? can't remember much. 2 is as horrible as movies can be. Not exactly hyped for 6 given what people have said so far.
  3. Just watched a bunch LLL clips to wash away the bitter taste this poll left me with. La La Land is the power of cinema at its peak. Mamma Mia stars a bunch of overqualified actors, lets famous pop songs do the heavy lifting and forget there's a movie between musical sequences.
  4. Relationship advice: dont suggest your person to move in with you temporarily while he seeks a new apartment when you guys are together for like 5 months. it won’t do your relationship any good. yep.
  5. So, I watched the only two seasons of HBO’s Looking and it was GOOD! More importantly, it proves that TV is not all bad or beyond saving.
  6. That's a good trailer, but I'm not sure if I can get excited over another biopic, even with Singer's involvement.
  7. So, does this have anything worthy of note other than cool setpieces? Can't bother reading reviews.
  8. This is not as seamless and focused as the first one, not by a long shot. Plot threads don't interact with each other well, feeling like nothing more than a brain-dead collage of subplots. Elastgirl shows no growth whatsoever, being pretty much static through the whole thing, which made her story outside of the cool setpieces boring af. The kids stuff feels like a rehash from the first. Incredibles 1 had multiple characters that were memorable from the get-go, Incredibles 2 presents us with nothing of that and is content with bringing back familiar characters such as Edna Mode, which has no business on being in this movie i.e. the most shameless form of fan pandering. The score lifts multiple tracks straight from the original. Rick Dicker surprisingly emotional goodbye is the only genuinely effective attempt at emotion, which highlights how weak this was from a dramatic standpoint. It's so heartbreakingly mediocre.
  9. Can we get a good Pixar sequel, please? I'm tired of watching movies bent on doing just enough, coasting on the familiar. Just unmemorable all around; it's Dory 2.0. The original is my favorite animated movie of all time, but this is a 6/10.
  10. My take on the oh so good Set It Up: it's bad. General thoughts since there's no review thread
  11. lol of course it did, or why did you bring up the #OscarSoWhite into the conversation? certainly to demonstrate, through a wacky comparison, that the Academy is indeed is biased against someone/something and that change only came when people were loud about it, which led, in OscarSoWhite's case, to a diversification of the voting members. So, my sarcastic statement is just a logical conclusion of your line of thought.
  12. I mean, it's a very slight romance shot and executed like an Art Filmé, and has, for some reason, a very graphic slaughterhouse sequence, which is for sure the main reason why it sucks. It's bad, coolio.
  13. Only now I’m catching up with last year’s nominees for best foreign film, and barring a A Fantastic Woman surprise, I think it might be the worst year for the category in years. How come perfectly nice Oscar material like In the Fade and BPM are left out and mediocrity incarnated like On Body and Soul and The Insult gets in?
  14. good stuff 1 The Tale 2 Game Night 3 A Quiet Place 4 Heritage bad 5 Ocean's 8 6 Cloverfield Paradox 7 Love Simon very bad 8 Titan 9 Black Panther 10 Annihilation 11 Deadpool 12 Ready Player One a two hour nightmare 13 Infinity War 14 The Commuter
  15. I mean, even if he wasnt a “stoned immature teenager” that would still be an acceptable reaction. Like Fanboy said, no one can really know for sure how they would react to such traumatic situation until they are in it.
  16. Kinda loses me when it becomes just another demonic possession horror film. Agree with folks saying it lacks focus to drive themes home and that the climax happens earlier than supposed to. Technically excuted with precision, but eh. Toni Colette is BAD in big, dramatic scenes, but that somehow adds to the movie? 7/10
  17. Entertaining for its terrific cast, forgettable for its mediocre execution. 5/10
  18. Saw HBO's The Tale. What a movie. Laura Dern 👌🏻
