  1. LOL at anyone claiming Blanchett is not the huge frontrunner right now.
  2. LOL, in September? Sit down please.
  3. How the hell are the Wachowskis underrated? They're quite overrated really.
  4. How can you plug Alan Parker and forget Fame and Pink Floyd The Wall?
  5. Fiennes is in this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1700845/
  6. Leto looks pretty solid, maybe even more so than McConaughey. Getting raves for DBC.
  7. Pan's Labyrinth did pretty well (37M). (Not sure if you'd count it but it had at least as much mass appeal as INI so far)
  8. Nothing wrong with an October release. Last year's winner came out in October, as did The Departed and many other nominees in the last decade. Hell, two of the last ten winners came out in May or June.
  9. OMG Jenelle Riley ‏@jenelleriley 1h Sandra Bullock in "Gravity" gives as good as Cate Blanchett in "Blue Jasmine"...but she does it in space. Alex Billington ‏@firstshowing 42m OH: Guy telling WB publicist that Gravity is up there with the top 3 cinematic experiences of his life. I completely agree. Wow wow wow. Alex Billington ‏@firstshowing 1h If it's as big of a success as it should be, Gravity could reignite a cultural fascination with space exploration / NASA in a major way. @OSTCritic It was *beep* beautiful & exhilarating. I want to listen to this score now. It blew me away as much as the film. Alyssa Grinder ‏@aissy 5m Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity is phenomenal. Reminder of why I'm in this business. #telluride #tff40 gregoryellwood @HitFixGregory Gravity will be a movie you will want to see again and again. Whether it wins best picture or not I don't care. It's amazing. #Telluride Alex Billington @firstshowing Gravity - Visually groundbreaking. Astonishing. Breathtaking. Remarkable. Extraordinary. Experience unlike any in film history a revelation. Alex Billington ‏@firstshowing 1h I want to watch Gravity over and over and over and over again. Everything about it is unbelievable. I can't believe this movie exists. Wow. Chris Willman ‏@ChrisWillman 35m If I had my own Oscar ballot to fill out, I'm guessing "Gravity" would be my best picture pick at the end of the year. Am I overselling it? Sasha Stone @AwardsDaily Gravity. Holy. *beep* Holy. *beep* Michael Moore ‏@MMFlint 9m Gravity. Speechless. Mind. Blown. Anne Thompson ‏@akstanwyck 28m Wow! Gravity delivers and then some. Best space movie since Avatar. And Sandra Bullock carries it. Q and A now.
  10. I don't know, the reactions seemed good but not out of this world.
  11. I really thought this year would be awful no less than a couple months ago, but all the contenders seem to be hitting in a big way. I'll be surprised if there are any fewer than 10 nominees at this point. New predictions Gravity American Hustle The Wolf of Wall Street August: Osage County Lee Daniels' The Butler Fruitvale Station 12 Years A Slave (still not sure this will resonate, but those crazy raves are hard to ignore) Rush Inside Llewyn Davis Saving Mr. Banks Kicked out Monuments Men (simply looks too bland) and Blue Jasmine (would make it in in a normal year, but there's just so much competition) It would also be a mistake to count out Her, Captain Phillips, and several others.
  12. Apparently Streep is probably being moved back to this category. What a mess.
  13. This category is fucked beyond repair. Redford Hanks Eijofor Phoenix DiCaprio Isaac Whitaker Jordan Dern Carell Bale Elba McConaughey Throw these names in the air and pick any five of them. Not to mention possible surprises like: Jackman Cumberbatch Fassbender Fiennes Hawke Stiller Firth
  14. Ugh, at this point I was sort of hoping for it to do better just so something interesting would happen.
  15. The Wind Rises will win so long as Disney is smart enough to release it this year.
  16. All three are talented, but Chloe is easily the least so of the three and I'm skeptical of her long-term career prospects. I can easily see the other two having lifelong, successful careers.
  17. You're Next had a shoestring budget, it will be just fine.
