  1. The daughter was the real star of the show. She killed it. Surprised at how much heart the movie had. The rally scene was creepy as shit
  2. Yeah, I asked my sister who's never read the books and she thought it was some YA novel at first till she realized it actually looked good and the sandworm. Plus now she wants to see it for Chalamet
  3. I was not expecting to get a young adult adaption feel I can totally see Fraser's work in those shots.
  4. You're going to see these two headlines a lot: "Film/TV project resumes production" --> "Production halted after someone tests positive for COVID on set" With companies testing more stringently to get filming to resume this is bound to happen more.
  5. One absolutely horrid dialogue scene is where one of them explains every single person will die if the baddie succeeds and Debicki's character adds "including my son" completely unnecessarily. I wish she was given more to do in the film because she feels absolutely wasted. It did give me a random thought that Neil might be her son?
  6. I thought it was fake until I read more headlines. Fuck this year.
  7. Fuck, I thought it was just a problem with the speakers. I swear every Nolan film has had this problem.
  8. lmao not sure you know this but I'm not RT or Metacritic. I loved the film and it worked for me on different levels but at the end of the day this may surprise you its all a matter of personal opinion. Prestige is still Nolan's best film overall. Though I'm very partial to Memento as well.
  9. Anyways at the end of the day judge the film for yourself. The most important critic is yourself
  10. I honestly don't know what kind of numbers it'll make domestically because of the rapid changes day by day of what is opening and what is not. This is a must see though on a big screen and I definitely want to see it again in IMAX this time, but I don't think the ones near me will open at all for Tenet.
  11. You're in for a treat. This is Nolan's magnum opus. I think perhaps his best film since The Prestige. IMO of course. btw it was a joy to watch a movie on a screen that's actually bigger than the one in my house even under current circumstances.
  12. Seeing a film early isn't as straight forward as it used to be heh. So many sanitation checks and social distancing and only a select few people per screening room, and that's only if you're lucky and happen to be in the same city. Plus masks on the whole time.
  13. I feel like the movie theater industry will never be the same again after this shit eventually ends. It's going to be a rough recovery, if it even happens.
  14. I loved Morricone's work for so many great soundtracks. The haunting sound for The Thing, Sergio Leone's great films, so much he's done. Had the pleasure of meeting him once for a short chat. Fascinating man and he will be dearly missed.
  15. I was worried it would get out of hand, but I didn't realize how much it would affect the world.
  16. My uncle passed away yesterday. He was put on a ventilator but had to be taken off. You don't need to visit a fucking barbershop or nail salon. Let it wait. Don't kill people with seemingly casual visits jesus christ.
  17. I just learned that my uncle is in critical condition in an ICU and the doctors say he has it. Crazy thing was literally 3 days ago we had a video chat; I told him to stay safe and he said he felt fine. Scary how fast someone can deteriorate. All I can do is hope.
  18. Never seen The Untouchables till now. Decent flick, more of a soap opera type gangster film. Still holding to my opinion that Kevin Costner can't act worth a damn.
  19. You telling me you somehow don't enjoy CBM fanbase-like discussions leaking into every thread on film?
  20. The hype must flow That pic of Ferguson looks like something out of a painting. Also didn't recognize Momoa at first.
  21. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/02/weekly-jobless-claims.html 6.6 million jobless claims this week. Holy fuck. So 10 million jobs gone in the last two weeks. This is absolutely insane and it's going to get worse. EDIT: I guess that kind of includes me, my company has just furloughed me since the movie projects I was working on at this point have been suspended and we're sitting around twiddling our thumbs. I'll be fine, but I worry greatly about my coworkers, especially the ones paid less who work like two or three jobs.
  22. End of the day it's everyone's fault as you said. China has a major share of the blame for covering it up, but the west watched the horror show in Wuhan and assumed things would continue to be normal. This is going to be a tough year.
