8.1 to 6 would be a 25% drop, a bit heavier than Batman's 21%. Hopefully it's leaning more towards 6.25 I'd be okay with anything less than a 50% drop for the second weekend. Just want it to beat the first movie's OW.

Bardem did a great job of bringing that funny uncle energy to the movie. I didn't knowhe had comedic chops. Much needed comic relief for a heavy film. But what starts out humorous eventually makes you realize into that they're all fundamentalist fanatics at the end of the day. His transformation into an unquestioning follower at the end was complete.

Well for those doing Batman comps, Batman slightly decreased on it's first Tuesday by 0.5%. If that 8.1m holds that's a nice increase of almost 11%.

Animation looks great but not a single joke landed for me.

It looks a lot more like the game than I thought it would. Lilith is using a Vladoff pistol, Atlas logos everywhere. That Claptrap joke at the end was basically something lowbrow out of the game. Tiny Tina needs to be just a bit more unhinged tbh, she seems toned down compared with her game counterpart.

Chani in this movie definitely gets more to do compared with in the book where she's basically just an object for Paul to react to. I thought the two had good chemistry. Enough to get out the four quadrant? No idea but Chalamet is at the moment riding high because of Wonka and I think that might help out Dune Part 2's BO a bit. Especially if they market this and the critical reception right.

Just saw an early screening of it. I'll have more thoughts on it later but my initial impression is I really loved it and it was an incredible experience. You have to see it on the biggest screen possible. This is the very definition of epic. Villeneuve's direction is very apparent with how much is going on and how big it all feels. I can't really compare the first movie and this one because the first Dune was world building and essentially preparing for this movie. Without Part 1, Part 2 wouldn't feel as epic. The second movie kicks everything up a notch from the action to drama. Chalamet was wonderful and did a great job being the lead. Right sense of power and vulnerability while buying into the stakes for him. Everyone brought their A game. The OST was some astounding work, Hans Zimmer really outdid himself by building upon the themes from the first movie. There's a lot of wicked shots and stunning cinematography. I was asking myself how are they going to top themselves with this scene, then the next shot comes along wowing me yet again. The effects combined with how real the world feels is well done. Going to rewatch it in IMAX for sure when it's released. Marketing did a good job hinting at the awe-inspiring scenes in the trailers without showing them.

Other random thoughts: Honestly thought KOTFM was a shoe-in for adapted screenplay. Williams getting nominated for Indy 5's OST was a huge headscratcher. Nothing memorable about that soundtrack at all so obviously a nom because it's his last piece. Spider-verse in my opinion deserved a nomination for the soundtrack. Pemberton did an incredible job but the Oscar folks don't like animated films. Best actor was really stacked this year so it's hard to pick on their choices.

Finally had time to binge-watch this whole show. It's incredible. How come we don't get more Star Wars shows like this? It's amazing how much good writing lifts everything related with it. Everyone acted their roles so damn well, no matter how big or small the role was. I have to give huge props to Serkis who really acted his ass off in that specific plot line. Also Gough did a wonderful job playing as a ruthless and efficient villain (and it was a cool little discovery for me to find out she voiced Yennefer in the video game The Witcher 3). It's nice to be reminded that the Empire can have competent people which makes fighting them so much more intense.

Having seen a screening for it, the trailer is misleading. It's more of a drama with horror elements than an action movie. I'd personally put it below Ex Machina, maybe around Annihilation, but way above Men in terms of rankings for Garland movies.

10m second weekend?

As a huge Godzilla fan this movie was incredible. Probably one of the best Godzillas ever made. Everything really came together and almost brought me to tears at one point. Really well shot and some haunting images left behind.

It looks really dumb. I'll be there day 1.

Not quite sure how I feel about the lead yet, but in Miller We Trust.

I can't believe is an actual line of written dialogue lol. And Johnson delivered it horribly.

That was a huge misstep. Felt like almost a complete waste of time watching it. There might be a movie in there somewhere but it was horribly chopped up in the editing stage and it's really obvious after seeing it. It's all over the place and the movie is barely coherent. I guess the actors are there to say a few goofy lines occasionally.

I'm still around. I've just been too busy with a production to go see screenings this month. Later this winter though I'll have a bunch of screenings. Funny thing was I had an opportunity to see Marvels in early Spring but it was unfinished and I had a family issues so timing was off.

Oh that seriously sucks. Way too young to go. He had the funniest parts in Friends and also was great in The Whole Nine Yards and The West Wing.

I actually enjoyed it to my surprise. It's quite a different dynamic from the other typical Saw films but def feels refreshing. Performances were great and the pacing was fast. Remember to stay for the credits.

Thought it was okay but def could have been way better. Washington was really wooden in this. The actress who plays the girl did a great job. Excellent looking visuals and you can feel Edwards' signature there with giant stuff though there was some iffy CGI. Soundtrack did not really stand out to me which was a shame because it's a Hans Zimmer soundtrack. Basically the concept was interesting but the movie didn't have enough time to cover it all in my opinion. In the third act it almost all falls apart. The way it jumps from scene to scene kind of stands out to me since it was probably chopped up to reduce the runtime.
