  1. Another one for X-Men. I know people today think of it as just average, but it was pretty awesome back in the day.
  2. Yeah, didn't really mean to drag this into a mutli-page discussion, but when I've heard The Avengers being referred to as groundbreaking before it was always because of the team up element. I agree with you that it was a good "hero shot" for sure, even if I don't think it was really groundbreaking.
  3. Superhero maybe not, but Transformers was years before, and its set pieces were at least on par.
  4. I don't remember people considering it groundbreaking. It felt pretty samey with all the faceless alien combat.
  5. I can't say I was impressed with this. The characters were cardboard, which means the movie relied solely on the plot to work, but the twists just seemed incredibly silly to me. I'm really disappointed after seeing this hyped up all these years.
  6. Depends on what you mean by "reasonable". It's possible for sure, but X3 multi for comic book movies don't come easy at all.
  7. I think 2.7 is possible. It managed to stir people's emotions, and has a good romance subplot, which usually bodes well for multiplier.
  8. Tbf I'm mostly interested in how you know those men retweeted by comic book accounts are gay. Like what did they post, "Having a gay time at the Wonder Woman premiere #homosexual"?
  9. Yeah, more seriously, SS had one of the most impressive marketing campaigns I've seen in recent years.
  10. Really strong trailer for what is a relatively subdued premise.
  11. These types of space adventure movies are really interesting in terms of box office, cause it seems that they either absolutely kill it (Star Wars, GotG) or are immense flops (John Carter, that one movie where Channing Tatum is a wolfman and Mila Kunis controls bees). It feels like a total coin toss in that sense. I hope Valerian does well though.
  12. He said money, tools, and freedom, not time. I like Edgar but he shat the bed.
  13. Thanks for the correction, though yeah if they don't have merch rights beyond getting a certain percentage I could see why they aren't as focused on making family friendly movies like Marvel.
  14. Worth mentioning that Fox don't have merch rights for their Marvel characters so they'd be less interested than other studios in making movies that appeal to kids.
  15. BvS is nowhere near MoS in terms of quality. MoS had superior acting (Michael Shannon>>>Jesse Eisenberg as far as chewing scenery is concerned), script, design, and action.
  16. I think MoS had higher peaks too, Supes flying for the first time, Krypton, basically every time Zod was on-screen. It was a solid movie that suffered from three big problems: 1) Snyder is bad at directing likable, relatable characters so it's hard for the viewer to root for Superman. 2) The pacing really felt off-kilter, with way too many flashbacks. 3) It ended on a downbeat, with Superman bawling like a baby after killing a dude (yeah there's a little tacked-on scene after but most people won't remember it).
  17. I don't agree at all. MoS basically makes sense. Zod needs Superman and Earth to maintain his species, Superman opposes him for obvious reasons. The BvS script is really unclear in comparison, the motivations of all characters are muddled and none of them act in a rational way.
  18. The problem is that he's responsible for those scripts. He and his wife are running the DCCU. Terrio didn't just come up to him out of the blue trying to make his BvS movie a reality, Snyder dictated it to him, at least in the broad strokes. Supposedly Goyer's script was also awful because he was trying to fulfill Snyder's demands. Snyder, when you get right down to it, is a bad story teller.
