  1. LOL, their last bad review was for Passengers (which i hear is amazing in 3D), and everything else they recommend in 3D
  2. HELP ME BOT: Tomorrow morning, I plan to see Ghost in the Shell. My choice is either Dolby Atmos cinema at 10:30am for 12 bucks, or IMAX 3D at 11:15am for 13 bucks. The Dolby Atmos sounds tempting because I have never tried that yet (cuz of the high price). Usually I just go straight to IMAX 3D for special occasions but this handy website has is giving the worst recommendation i have seen thus far for a movie . However, this negative recommendation seems to be from a lack of 3D, not because it is a horrible presentation. http://www.cinemablend.com/news/1642080/to-3d-or-not-to-3d-buy-the-right-ghost-in-the-shell-ticket?story_page=2 To those who have seen this, is it worth seeing in 3d? Does the 3D ruin the movie? Should I give Dolby atmos a shot for the first time? (but I don't think GitS is going to be strong in the sound department (it seems to be all about the visuals)). This is a decision I cannot make on my own. I am afraid I will resort to IMAX 3D. Help me BOT, your my only hope.
  3. Chappie made 13.35 opening weekend fell 57.3% on its second weekend to 5.70 with Cinderella and Run All Night opening. If Life does 5.5 or greater this weekend, consider that a miracle
  4. In regards to that 1.8 preview # for GitS. Either it played like a summer film, OR it made alot off high premiums and pricey events. (Paper Towns). I am waiting until Sunday morning to pay $20 to see it on a matinee.
  5. If Boss Baby follows Home day for day. 12.802 + 18.597 + 12.326 + 1.5 = 45.225 Beauty and the Beast 12.6 (+60%) 20.16 (-37.5%) 12.6 = 45.36 Power Rangers 3.7 (+60%) 5.92 (-31.25%) 4.07 = 13.69 Ghost in the Shell 5.6 (+33.33%) 7.466 (-32.5%) 5.04 + 1.80 = 19.906 (significant figures not accounted for)
  6. bumping this. With the breakout thread for 'Life' maybe some want to give this a shot. I really liked it! B-
  7. ^^ agree with everything said above. Just watched it now. It was nice to see a slow moving awards film away from awards season and to see how my tastes will accept it as i indulge with all the guilty pleasures coming out every week (and give them strong ratings). A.
  8. alot better than I thought it would be. Comedies are my least favorite genre but they are on a roll for me this year with Fist Fight and now CHiPs. B.
  9. there were single showings of the new Smurf's movie on Saturday from the same studio (Sony/Columbia). I am pretty sure that gross was given to Passengers. That being said, Smurfs did about 280k sneak previews. Is this a good # for sneak previews? Passengers should be at 99.90 by Friday, and could probably get there with a couple more weeks of second run discount cinema.

  11. I found this website that is very helpful regarding 3d movies. Its title is 'to 3d or not to 3d' http://www.cinemablend.com/3d/ I was attracted to see Doctor Strange twice in 3d, but Star Wars not so much.
  12. just watched this today for a 4th time in 1080p. i am upping my grade from a 98 to a 99. I saw it with subtitles and picked up on so much more this time. The visuals are still superior to films of today.
  13. I bet Power Rangers would have made it to 50 mill had it larger theaters, more showings, and no buy one get one free ticket promo. I think Life could do well during the weekdays (4 mill +, 17 mill 7-day total) because of possible sold out showings from small theaters and spillover business for people who just need a proper time slot to see it. However, I see it dropping to under 6 million next weekend like what Chappie did 2 years ago when it opened against Cinderella and Run All Night. Ghost in the Shell will devour the audience. CHAPPIE Mar 6–8 1 $13,346,782 - 3,201 - $4,170 $13,346,782 1 Mar 13–15 5 $5,703,935 -57.3% 3,201 - $1,782 $23,316,696 2
  14. In fact, Life and Chappie have identical Thursday/Friday performances thus far. Lets see how that old Reynolds film does on Saturday. 3.0 multiplier throughout the weekend is not dead yet.
  15. I guess the silver lining for Life's performance is that it broke out substantially for the genre versus Splice, Morgan, Transcendence, and Pandorum. It is in line with Chappie and Ex Machina.
