  1. this film really lucked out getting in 3000 theaters for 3 weeks. It is at 17 now, look for it to pass 30 by Jan 2nd, and before theater drop
  2. i guess the box office can be an emotionally testy thing when one does not get their way
  3. I never post here. I do not know exactly what this article is trying to say. It is just... that looks like an insane number for Resident Evil, and an insane opening in Japan. I think, RIGHT?? http://deadline.com/2016/12/rogue-one-star-wars-story-great-wall-china-dangal-aamir-khan-sing-international-box-office-christmas-weekend-1201875735/ Also of note, Sony opened Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Japan, well ahead of the rest of the world, and grabbed the No. 1 slot with industry sources pegging it at $9.65M on 786 screens to top the recent start of Rogue One in that market. Japan typically overindexes on the franchise, coming in as the top offshore hub on each of the previous installments.
  4. it makes me so mad how fast Doctor Strange and Fantastic Beasts got to 200M soo fast and these 2 weeks were the perfect opportunity for them to coast to 250. Instead theater counts just got yanked. Arrival's chances to 100M were like instantly killed. Seems it will top out at 95 and will need like a huge Oscar win to push to 100M. ughhh. and Trolls could have added a few more million too with its heavy commercial appeal. Allied and Almost Christmas had a chance at passing 45. The booking this year was just wierd. Bad Santa 2 in 52 theaters now **Doctor Strange should have kept extra 3D showings, FB should have more than 2 showings/day
  5. 2005 and 2011 do not compare well. And neither is 2017. Probably tv networks have a different way of impacting the audiences everytime these calendar dates line up and the animated offerings are more four quadrant these days giving them better holds and increases than previously with the likes of Alvin, etc. ^^ w/ reserved seating this year: Pets, Dory, Kubo, Trolls, Moana, and Sing stay very packed for the latest shows Norm, Storks, Ice Age, Wild Ones, and Pete's Dragon ehh not so much. Seemed to collapse after 7pm shows leading to cancelled showings if soemone else was selling out
  6. At least Arrival is still up for the score award at the Golden Globes...Sunday, January 8, 2017
  7. it will be an interesting week for Passengers. I cannot find a comparison with these jumps. It might make it to 100M after all! Can Tues-Monday really challenge its first Friday of 4.5 each day??

  9. SO hard to really tell how much they truly drop from Sunday to Monday.. maybe even increased?
  10. La La Land, Lion and Fences will all have Saturday evening numbers incorporated into Sunday numbers. (i know theaters close xmas eve but i looked and the showings were there.. and there were plenty of showings!!!)
  11. 80%. i support it because i appreciate all these high video game concepts in big budget film. In this one, the acting was good! However, i get the feeling FOX really likes to fuck with franchises. 1) made a unique vision of Fantastic 4 impossible. 2) under marketed ID4-R and X-Men: Apoc. 3) Most likely heavily trimmed into Assassin's Creed. Whats next, War of the Apes getting interfered with??
  12. 90/100. the bar setting is nice. not much mind bending sci-fi, but a fun adventure nonetheless.
  13. I saw 2d for both. Fandango gave 3.5 stars for 3D P and AC, and 4 out of 5 stars for P and AC 2D. IThe website had a good rating for AC http://www.cinemablend.com/3d/ Anyway, Assassin's Creed - 80% Passengers - 82.5%
  14. could we please bump up the pic for Passengers and WM? i cant find anything, posts moving too fast.
  15. i will not accept a reality where R1 only makes 25 on xmas Sunday. The lines were sooo massive today
