hey.... I have been following the reserved seating IMAX at Irvine Spectrum for some time now. It has been struggling since Civil War. Just wondering if Star Trek IMAX got this location in the top 10 engagements alone? STB seemed half full for the times I checked.

Report I made for reserved seating. I took frantic notes for a long time. I missed many showtimes and some of the total seat counts are off. If I keep a log of the capacity, I could be able to do this quicker in the future. I recorded the time I took the sample. With that info, you might estimate how full it got after I took it. Perhaps it a showing was at 90/100 5 min before the show, you could calculate if it sells out and when…. I wonder if The Shallows is having a double-feature drive in boost since it is the same studio as Ghostbusters. The only other one would be Angry Birds.... The PTA for Shallows on Friday was slightly above, but that could also be from it being a WOM hit. Tomorrow's Sunday estimates will show whether or not Shallows was double feature driven this weekend. Unless someone can show some prooff....

meh for Pets, BFG and Dory. Last year, Minions and Inside Out were closer to 40% while Jurassic WOrld and Terminator were at 50%. therefore, meh for Tarzan and ID4 too! Incredible for Central Intelligence and The Infiltrator. Good for Mike and Dave. I expect Purge to be at or over 25% along with the COnjuring 2 too.

C+ The chemistry was good. Close to a B-. I thought it was a really solid performance by Dwayne Johnson.

The Shallows is at $45,829,624 and it should make about 3.00 million if it falls 45% on Monday and then holds at the same number through Thursday. A slight chance it hits 49M on Thursday. I am not sure if it can reach 60 now. I think it would have had to hit 50 by Thurs to make 60. Now anything 55-60 seems plausible.

Rewatched. As a die hard horror fan, I have been missing out with these films. Cannot wait to watch al the sequels now!

Dory is crumbling fast with that 50% drop. Relative to how it was looking a few days ago in regards to passing the 500 million mark, it is disappointing that Dory might fall short after being replaced with Pets. Maybe bad WOM is starting to kick in.

I saw this opening night about 7:50pm. I got in the theater right at 7:50 after finishing The Shallows. I saw them in this order intentionally, hoping for maximum capacity for Neon Demon to make it fun. I was also skeptical when I got there right on time (and not early), thinking I would get horrible seats. The theater was empty. By the time the movie started 20 minutes later, there was about 9 people in the theater. I left 100% satisfied, but with a meh feeling for the film itself. I lov the French art-house vibe it had. It is rare to see this in a mainstream theater. So much visual. The limited dialogue and edits made the film confusing but I thought it was edited just right (like the Exorcist) so one could fill in the pieces. The Neon Demon still makes you think a lot though. You have to be alert to piece together each scene because the editing requires it. The mood was great throughout. Keanu Reeves was in it which was a plus. I loved the scene in the parking lot when he was trying to light the cigarette with an empty lighter, shook the lighter, threw the lighter, and the lighter hit the ground and you could hear the sound of the plastic lighter sliding down the asphalt. That seemed like an improvised scene. Not sure...
