  1. 30m is not a very big opening either, that would still be third for the weekend. You know Paramount was hoping for 40m+, those aspirations were probably too big.
  2. It's opening like the rest of the adult cinema fare has been opening. Paramount tried to market it like a big sci-fi event ala Martian/Gravity and they probably realized it was not going to open to those numbers so they decided to do slower expansion.
  3. We will have to remain patient and keep watching it closely. I think right now it could potentially do mid to high teens total.
  4. Good weekend coming up. Doctor Strange probably hitting 90m, Trolls probably hitting 50m and Hacksaw Ridge getting mid-high teens.
  5. The legs for this will be interesting because I'm not expecting a huge opening.
  6. No way. I think they'll either move it to May or August. Im not sure why they have 'Life' set for Memorial Day weekend, that looks like it would better as a fall release.
  7. It does look like a rip off Alien. I have to see more before deciding to spend money on this.
  8. Lawrence and Pratt will be appearing on Ellen Nov 10. in case yall were wondering when the marketing/promotion would start kicking into high gear. http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html I suspect a new trailer is coming out that week with Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. (Nov. 11)
  9. well, sequels/franchises weren't nearly as much of a thing even 10 years ago. Disney has cornered the market, so now it's desperation that's really bringing these films back from the dead.
  10. Despite having a bigger opening weekend, it looks like Jack Reacher 2 is going to come in under Jack Reacher. It's looking like a 55-60m finish. Madea holding as well as it can, should have enough gas to crack 60m. Passing, A Madea Christmas, which is a great result. The Accountant holding nicely, will likely end up the highest grossing October film somewhere around 80m. Ben Affleck is a movie star.
  11. It's not going that wide so soon, the only reason Steve Jobs went that wide is because Universal released it. Looks like A24 is planning a similar roll out like Room. I think about 30 theaters this weekend, 100 theaters Nov 4, and up to 200 theaters over Thanksgiving weekend. They will likely wait until after Oscar noms before going 500+ theaters. That's the smartest strategy for these small indies, awards season gives them the best marketing.
  12. Overseas will save Inferno so i dont care too much about it's domestic haul.
  13. These specialty releases are so unpredictable. It seems like it's performing great with arthouse crowds but who knows how much it will appeal to GA. I'd wait until it expands a bit more before making wild predictions like that.
  14. Well it basically has another weekend to do solid business since Halloween falls on a Monday this year. After that the drops will be harsh, still i think it gets 50m which is in line with typical Perry films.
  15. Whoever decided it was a good idea to release two Galifianakis movies within weeks of each other should be fired. The last Hangover movie was almost 4 years ago, and hes never been a huge comedy star.
  16. Decent for Jack Reacher. I find it funny that all of these adult films are opening with basically the same amount. This means they are bringing out their target audience but no one else.
