  1. Could this be part of a Stallone Cinematic Universe? Would it require a reboot for Rocky, Rambo, Marion Cobretti? Would Rocky be a little creeped out by his super-violent counterparts?
  2. SIAP, but this parallels the change in how TV is offered.
  3. Movies Alda fanboys want. The Four Seasons (reboot) The West Wing (continuation of tv series funded by Kickstarter) MASH (reboot with Alda playing Henry Blake in Afghanistan)
  4. Will F7's hugeness next week cause big drops for the holdovers or are they different enough to still do well?
  5. Linkkater has no such reputation. Linklater doesn't pick fights with the cbm genre. Boyhood was innovative and thoughtful. Oh, never mind.
  6. Yeah, I work in juvenile justice. Watching an occasional raunchy or crass movie makes dealing with real life crap a little more palatable.
  7. In The Last Boy Scout, Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans defeat an evil senator. Fuck yeah.
  8. Movie fans who despise mass production of a genre of movies. Hmm...
  9. BH6 was really good for me. The emotional beats were excellent as were the visuals. The obviousness of the villain was very clunky unfortunately.
  10. Parallax is a monster villain for a sequel, not a urine cloud to be whipped by a rookie by himself. ARRGGH!
  11. I thought it was announced he was going to be Apollo's grandson. Apollo "died" in 85 or 86 so the ages match up ok. Adonis must wear Apollo's colors.
  12. The increase in BP slots hasn't done much to allow bigger movies in. My guess is adding more slots would bring us a bunch of Mr. Turners before we could get a superhero movie, a YA movie or a comedy. My sense is that the academy believes their niche is intrinsically better than everything else. It's fine to have some bias, but that ruins any claim to judging quality
  13. My foray into really digging a quirky, tiny budget movie gets marred by a quirkier, lesser movie getting BP. I tried to hang out with the star-bellied sneetches, but f**k no. There is no Sylvester McMonkey McBean that's going to con me now either. Age of Ultron for Best Picture!!!
  14. See, I agree about Nightcrawler and GG. Boyhood hit me in the feels. The gimmick/innovation in the filming worked for me. Birdman was more about craft than a good story.
