It’s looking more and more likely that BP will beat Avengers Adjusted and be the largest Comic book movie of all time Adjusted. Saying that again, bigger than Avengers, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man or the original Batman and Superman movies.

A 48% drop off of both a President’s Day weekend and an OW with large previews is fantastic. Indicates excellent holding power. If the drops stay this strong it could definitely push 700m for largest Adjusted comic book movie. I think over TA for largest comic book movie is happening.

Black Panther is oversaturating the market but I’d expect Game Night to have more walk up business

I wonder where Game Night will open at, seems like a walk up based movie, and one that’ll be leggier. I think it could potentially hit 100m if it’s able to open 25m+ Or so.

From 2008 to 2019 Marvel will have made around 19-20b From 2008 to 2019 Cameron films will have made 2.7b Looks like business plan filmmaking pays more than Cameron!

Something to think about, there’s really no other franchise as profitable as the MCU is. They crank out 3 movies a year, each hitting within the 750m - 1.4b range. Neither Star Wars, DC, Cameron, Bayformers, or any other franchise has made something that matches that. (This is coming from somebody who isn’t a big MCU fan)

It’s based on an Adjusted tomatoscore that boosts movies with more reviews. Therefore new well-received blockbusters will dominate the list because of the review mass.

Your opinion, but the critical consensus (big factor for awards players) is that it is.

I could see BP pulling a mix of a Fury Road/Get Out style of awards runs. Both of those were stretched, less so than BP. But, if BP misses I don’t think a comic book movie will ever get a nomination. It’s about as good of a funny book movie as you’ll get (as well as about as awards baity as one can get too).

So, what are the chances Black Panther is the comic book movie that finally gets a BP nomination? I’m kind of thinking it could pull a Fury Road It’s the best reviewed superhero film of all time, doesn’t feel comic booky, has social resonance, has strong performances and tech work, respected director, and precedent saying. We’ve also had two BP nods from February over the last few years, and he academy is starting to be more inspired with their BP choices. Still way to far out to say one way or another, but I think it has a solid shot. Maybe even a chance for B Jordan to get a supporting actor nod, but that’s more iffy than Picture for BP. If it does get it it’ll probably get these nods, questions next to unsure to iffy nods, I think production, costume, and sound are shoe-ins Picture? Director? Supporting Actor? Screenplay? Cinematography? Editing? Production Costume Hair and Makeup? Score? Song? Sound Editing Sound Mixing Visual Effects?

Could BP get a BP nod next year?
