  1. It’s played very much like a comedy too. Ultimately, if you’re separating things by comedy or drama it’s less about something being funny and more about the tone and mood of the movie. One of the reasons Three Billboards, Get Out and the Martian should all be dramas despite being funny.
  2. All of the emojis should have a Porg alternative. Give the people a choice.
  3. Please give us Porg emojis, they are a must. I demand it.
  4. I’m kind of thinking whoever wins the AFC wins the Super Bowl.
  5. I shall not keep you long. I have called you all together for a Purpose. First of all, three and a half years is far too short a time to be an admin among such excellent and admirable people. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. Finally, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I regret to announce that — though I have said, three and a half years is far too short a time to spend with you as an admin — this is the END. I am going. I am retiring now. Good-bye. I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Telemachos. All of this to say: After some extended consideration, I’m retiring as a member of the BOT staff. I’m doing this to be able to spend more time with my family, and to have more free time for my creative pursuits. I want to thank @Shawn and @Coco Bottle for offering me the position in the first place; I got a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from being able to contribute to this wonderful place. And thanks to all the rest of the staff @baumer @chasmmi @CJohn @K1stpierre @The Shape of Pasta @JJ-8 @aabattery @DameronRoc @DeeReyEgonnnnn — you guys are awesome and I appreciate all the effort you’ve put into the forums. BOT has grown tremendously in the last several years and I’m honored to have been a part of it. This is truly the best place on the internet to talk about movies and the numbers behind them. Effective immediately, I’m stepping away from Admin duties. @The Last AndyLL @grim22 @#ED @Vanilla and @Impact will continue to be admins and I think they’re an absolutely fantastic team to lead us all. So now, I’m just Tele the poster. My last formal Moderation request is to quote Bill & Ted: Be excellent to each other. And party on, dudes! Much love to all of you.
  6. Need people to throw some insults at me so I can act sad and shit.
  7. The Disaster Artist is definitely a comedy, at least much more comedy than drama.
  8. Many of us have posted insane things (including me) but that was definitely one of the biggest WTFs.
  9. That’s what Trump’s twitter account is for. I don’t want to be reminded of our self-inflicted horror when I go to Disney World.
  10. Eh, it’s not really a straight drama either. Putting Get Out or the Martian in comedy feels like a bigger category fraud to me.
  11. So close to winning the day in likes and I didn’t even make a list quick @MrPink @aabattery @Just Tele Tell me all your like whore strategies
  12. In four years I bet it’s shoved to the corner
  13. From a few trade sources I read a while back. It’s kind of evident because they snubbed Get Out for Director and Screenplay, whereas it’s been consistent everywhere else with those two cats. I would be surprised if Get Out won comedy here, but I think it wins PGA, WGA and BP
  14. I’d predict Get Out but apparently Peele got on the wrong foot with the Globes guys. It’s my predict for the Oscar win but I think it loses here. Lady Bird probably wins comedy, maybe the Post wins drama?
  15. I do think the Patriots could be on the run for another Super Bowl. Their biggest obstacle is just beating the Steelers to get there. I think if they make it to the Super Bowl they win it
  16. Real Box Office journalism is would pretty much only be appealing to this board. Studios already have insiders who can Project grosses for them, they don’t really need independent sources like Deadline.
  17. Watch, The Greatest Showman sweeps up all of its awards, because The Globes just can’t help awarding a bunch of stars singing shitty pop songs
  18. I’m cheering on the Vikings since the Cowboys are out. I always like the idea of a Super Bowl team playing at home, so I hope the Vikings can pull it off.
  19. That’s very likely, there’s no way for MoviePass to be profitable unless it can get cut out deals from theaters, in which case the theater is better off just making their own version
  20. Jumanji’s definitely a major box office story, I thought it had breakout potential but I was thinking that meant like 150m not 300m+
  21. I don’t think The Martian or Gravity got initially high predicts. Another movie that did well was Apollo 13. Unless First Man just isn’t that great of a movie (which goes against Chapelle and Gosling’s track record), I think it’s the breakout October hit and does more than Venom and Halloween.
