  1. I’d wait for the Venom and Halloween trailers before predicting 200m Im thinking First Man goes over 200m though due to the success of the Martian and Gravity.
  2. I’m rather surprised major horror franchises haven’t tried to take advantage of October for the last few years. I think Halloween may be the first big one in the last few years.
  3. Insidious 4 won’t leg it out anywhere, but the movies already made its profit and Insidiou5 will be out this time in 2020.
  4. The movie will be making a profit even if it misses the 100-150m mark, but I definitely think it stays well above that. I think staying above 300m is a strong possibility.
  5. Possibly, but I don’t think they’re great comparisons. DMC followed a, mostly, WOM hit. IT, while having decent legs, was an anticipated weekend event. The good thing, is they sell the movie as a two parter, so people are anticipating more. If Deadpool manages to increase or stay relatively flat, I think IT 2 should be able to manage the same, assuming the movie is good quality and the marketing team does its job.
  6. All of those movies were still much bigger than IT. I think we should watch how Deadpool 2 does this summer for a rough gauge. Deadpool’s the closest comparison.
  7. This is the worst take I’ve seen on these boards since Ethan put Pitch Perfect 2 as the best movie of 2015
  8. Man you just keep on spoiling that top 30 list you never finished.
  9. I really liked Three Billboards, I think when I get a chance to rewatch I’ll probably like it more than I do now. There’s so many moments that stuck with me. And McDormand’s electric in that movie, all of the performances are, but her’s especially.
  10. This is my song for the passing of Tele Goodbye Tele Lean Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While all those around you trolled They shit posted in the weekend thread And spammed your feed with gifs They set you on the treadmill And you changed your username And it seemed to me you live your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did Lab Rats was tough The toughest show you ever made Disney lost an editor And creating a hater was the price they paid Even when you died Oh the posters still pounded you And all they had to say Was that you were just campaigning for MVP And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did Goodbye Tele Lean Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While all those around you trolled Goodbye Tele Jean From a Panda north of Mexico Who sees you as something more ancient More than just our Telemachos And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did
  11. Well alright! Goodbye Tele Lean Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While all those around you trolled They shit posted in the weekend thread And spammed your feed with gifs They set you on the treadmill And you changed your username And it seemed to me you live your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did Lab Rats was tough The toughest show you ever made Disney lost an editor And creating a hater was the price they paid Even when you died Oh the posters still pounded you And all they had to say Was that you were just campaigning for MVP And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did Goodbye Tele Lean Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While all those around you trolled Goodbye Tele Jean From a Panda north of Mexico Who sees you as something more ancient More than just our Telemachos And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the threadbans set in And I would have liked to know you back then But I did not exist Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did
  12. Top 10 performance of the year 1. Mark Hamill 2. Frances McDormand 3. Saoirse Ronan 4. Sally Hawkins 5. Carrie Fisher 6. Sam Rockwell 7. Christopher Plummer 8. Laurie Metcalf 9. Gary Oldman 10. James Franco
  13. Mark Hamill gave the best performance of the year.
  14. 1. Inside Out 2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi 3. Blade Runner 2049 4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens 5. La La Land 6. Mad Max: Fury Road 7. Get Out 8. Arrival 8. Deadpool 9. Dunkirk 10. Logan
  15. I think The Grinch, Mary Poppins Returns, Black Panther and First Man should all be pretty big breakouts. I think Fantastic Beasts 2 disappoints. The first was liked fine, but it was also the return of the potter franchise. I don’t see how the second really grows from there all that much.
  16. Fantastic Beasts is just a poor man’s version of Pokémon, sorry. If you think otherwise you’re
  17. Oh yes, Disney definitely spent 800m on a movie with no production issues. TLJ was undoubtedly the most expensive movie of all time by a few hundred million.
  18. TGS made me realize how much LLL’s score and songs were saved by Justin Hurcwitz and Damien Chazelle. I reckon those songs wouldn’t have worked nearly as well without them.
  19. Disney gets 70% of the DOM gross or so, Add that to the WW gross and they’d need at least a 700m budget (maybe more) for TLJ to only break even.
  20. I think the ones with strong potential to clear 100m are A Quiet Place New Mutants The Nun Halloween
  21. Yeah, let’s not kid ourselves. You can call TLJ a disappointment, but on a 200m budget it definitely broke even by the end of its OW. Everything since then has just been profit.
