It's a sure shame Kiwis are banned from awarding other kiwis!

I at least put it at #2!

If you want to do FYC (and have them included) post them in this thread, in a format similar to how I'll do mine in this post (you can include a video, picture or something like that). In the Comp, I'll list the movies people put up FYC, and mention each user who suggested it (so you can FYC a movie somebody else already posted). The idea is when you're making your ballot, or trying to think of contenders, you can see movies others recommended for each cat. NOTE: This does NOT count as your ballot. You must send in an actual ballot through PM to both me and Spaghetti! Also posting your pics on the thread should be fine and FYC Star Wars: The Last Jedi For Categories: Best Picture, Director, Ensemble, Actor (Mark Hamill), Actress (Daisy Ridley), Supporting Actor (Adam Driver), Supporting Actress (Carrie Fisher), Adapted Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Original Score, Production Design, Costume Design, Make up and Hairstyling, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and Editing, Hero (Luke Skywalker, Rey), Villain (Kylo Ren) and Epic Box Office Run Blade Runner 2049 For Categories: Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Original Score, Production Design, Costume Design, Hair and Make Up Design, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Hero (K), and Soul Crushing Box Office Run Get Out For Categories: Picture, Director, Ensemble, Actor (Daniel Kaluuya), Original Screenplay, Editing, Original Score, Sound Mixing and Editing, Villain (Rose), Hero (Chris) Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri For Categories: Picture, Director, Ensemble, Actress (Frances McDormand), Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell), Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Original Score, Soundtrack Lady Bird For Categories: Picture, Director, Ensemble, Actress (Saoirse Ronan), Supporting Actress (Laurie Metcalf), Original Screenplay

AWARDS SEASON 17/18: General Discussion
The Panda replied to Ezen Baklattan's topic in And The Winner Is...
I’m not talking from a gender equality standpoint. I’m talking about people who don’t identify as a male or female, etc. I think theres at least 20 years though before this is even something really discussed. -
Watch, now Backseat, Widows, First Man and Mary, Queen of Scots are all going to disappoint and something like Ready Player One gets a BO nod.
-
I thought the Scorsese movie next year was the Netflix Irishman one? Not killers of the flower moon?

Oops, all white people look the same, sorry!

AWARDS SEASON 17/18: General Discussion
The Panda replied to Ezen Baklattan's topic in And The Winner Is...
I personally agree but I also don’t think it’d happen in the near future. Hollywood could (hopefully) be structurally different in 20-25 years time where there’ll be more gender equality. -
AWARDS SEASON 17/18: General Discussion
The Panda replied to Ezen Baklattan's topic in And The Winner Is...
Real question: When do you think Hollywood will scrap gender categories for Actor/Actress? I say when because I think it’s inevitable at some point. Mostly due to open gender identification is a progressive issue so Hollywood may want to follow suit in support at some point. I think in the next 25 years this could happen and we just have “Best Performance” and “Best Supporting Performance” -
I'll go ahead and take a stab at 2018 BP nods so hindsight laughter next year Best Picture 2018 Backseat Beautiful Boy The Bell Jar First Man If Beale Street Could Talk Mary, Queen of Scots Old Man and the Gun Roma Sidney Hall Widows Director: Josie Rourke, Mary, Queen of Scots BA: Christian Bale, Backseat BAs: Saoirse Ronan, Mary, Queen of Scots BSA: Daniel Kaluuya, Widows BSAs: Charlize Theron, Mary, Queen of Scots AS: Mary, Queen of Scots OS: Backseat

These were my first full predictions, uh oh.

This is true, just look at Tele’s opinion and you’ll see!

Beyond WOM, Star Wars sequels have historically had large drop offs. The problem was with our expectations (mine included) than TLJ. 100m tickets is absolutely insane. Doesn’t matter how good your sequel is, it’s ridiculous to think it’ll get close to matching that. The fact people are going to be saying mid-600m is a disappointing run is crazy. TFA’s numbers were so huge I don’t know if people are able to picture just how many tickets TLJ is actually selling.
-
The biggest factor is its a sequel to a zeitgeist movie, which historically have shorter legs and lower (but still large) OWs. Look at recent examples like AoU and TDKR. The fact that TFA was even more massive than TA or TDK just means that drops bound to be more inflated (especially since an IM3 like spinoff RO already came as a follow up for those high off TFA). Competition is what is likely shortening the legs even more though and what’ll keep TLJ from a 700m gross vs a mid 600m gross. You can see this from seeing inverse holds with J and TLJ. When J has a poor hold, TLJ has a better hold. Maybe it’s J benefiting from people not seeing TLJ maybe it’s the other way around.
