    The movie gets better the more you let it sit. Lots of great imagery, and I think a second viewing should really help it. Plus, the movie really strengthens ANH. The order I watch the films will now be RO ANH ESB ROTS (plus a few scenes from the other two prequels) ROTJ TFA

    Honestly though, I can't sit through Avatar anymore. I saw it four times in theaters, and now I don't have the patience to make it through at home.

    But does it have a sky beam? TFA did. Soybeans are the quintessential element to modern films.

    Let's be real honest though. Avatar does suck, and TFA is the gold standard of modern filmmaking.

    Lolwut? TDK would have likely opened to a bit less and had a stronger multiplier. Christmas and New Years holidays man.

    And all of those, with the exception of Force Awakens, weren't released in December.

    But seriously guys, 70m OD totally proves nobody cares about this movie and that it's definitely not an event.

    Critcising ANH for having "out of date" effects would be like criticizing the Vikings for being poor at warfare because axes and swords "are out of date" and so they don't compare to a modern soldier.

    The first two acts were solid, but not-particularly memorable. It took a bit for me to get into the film, but once I did, I was completely on board. The final act was great and really ties well into A New Hope. It wasn't nearly as good as TFA, nor did the visuals really do their job at popping until the final act. It's a well-made film though and is a solid B+, with an ending that resonates as a high A/A+ final act. I definitely won't be skipping this one in my Star Wars marathons.

    Lololol the Globes snubbed Arrival and Silence. These globe nods disgust me. At least Lena Headey was nominated.

    It's hard to make the statement when there's only been one Avatar film. Don't want to get too far into the debate, but we won't know how the sequel performs until it's out.

    Kubo, Zootopia and Moana would all be deserving winners.
