  1. At least we ended things right and had Somewhere Over the Rainbow win it, plus Bright Side of Life in the top 3
  2. Like the LEGO universe or Playmobil had rich themes. They're both toy brands and just that. And Playmobil will bomb, nobody in the US knows that brand name, especially compared to say LEGO.
  3. I agree, in fact, Zootopia will likely be snubbed. The Academy won't ignore the climatic finale of a commercially beloved franchise. 1.Ice Age 5 2.Storks 3.The Secret Life of Pets 4.Sing 5.The Angry Birds Movie
  4. Let it Go and Part of Your World weren't even close to making my list.
  5. Yeah, I've been skeptical about getting it. Some months I see many movies in theaters, some I don't (for a variety of reasons). I don't like being trapped into gym-membership like contracts. And I was skeptical about how nitpicky they seemed to be about rules. I see some movies multiple times, and that rule struck me as odd. Id have to go to the theaters at least once a week as well (and some weeks more) and it seemed like too much of a pain to really be worth it for me. I like the idea of subscription based theater system, similar to Spotify or Netflix, but the appeal of those are they aren't all that limiting on how you can use their service.

  7. It'd be an interesting plot turn if Dany dies during the invasion, leaving all of her massive army and dragons headless and the Seven Kingdoms in chaos. That'll likely be Cersei's plan, kill Dany and you don't have to defeat the army. I'm not positive that'll happen though, I'm just fairly positive this series is not going to play out how all of the speculation articles are claiming 1.Dany and Jon get married 2.Dany takes the iron throne 3.Westeros unites against the walkers 4.Arya gets all of her sweet revenge 5.A few other deaths for some tragedy 6.Happily ever after for the rest If those general events are the outline going forward, I'll be disappointed, as I've come to expect more out of the series. I'm not saying it needs to end completely doom and gloom, but I'd hate for the show to just give into the cliches at the very end, when it's done so well not to this far.
  8. They do, but with the exception of Minions, Universal is pretty weak on their merchandising when you compare them to Disney. Disney's more about continually adding pieces to their large catalogue of characters and settings. Even themepark wise, people only really go to Universal for the Harry Potter stuff, and Harry Potter isn't even Universal.
  9. Partially, but remember Inside Out and Zootopia are now forever in Disney's massive merchandising, home video, and parks machine. Their Box Office profits aren't where they make the real money, it's just exposure.
  10. If I ever have kids they'll never be allowed to watch these dumb illuminati movies. Theyre going to watch some good, true movies like The Wizard of Oz, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Spirited Away, Poltergeist, The Wolf of Wall Street, Blue is the Warmest Color, Holy Motors, Pulp Fiction, Wall-E, The Sound of Music You know whole, good, family films, not these wannabe Minions movies.
  11. It is Illumination, and I think its extremely effective marketing could cause OW front loading due to a rush excitement. With a 35.5m Fri Fri: 35.5m Sat: 34m Sun: 25.5m WKND: 95m I could maybe see it pushing a little higher now that I see the estimated Friday numbers. But id still take Deadline's estimates with a grain of salt.
  12. I don't think 100m will happen. Early previews, a highly hyped up movie based on the marketing, and an even more preview centric market than before: Most likely mid 80s - 90s, which is a great opening.
  13. Somewhere and If I Were a Rich Man are way too low. Boo to Everything is Awesome Meh at the rest being above some more deserving and superior classics.
  14. Not really, I left the movie leaning more torwards the decision that was made (with the information they gave). And this is from somebody who went into it disagreeing with drone warfare by quite a margin. It made me think more on the subject than I had previously. Plus, why are you assuming those were murderor terrorists that assisted the girl? From my knowledge they were militants but not terrorists. The movie does a great job at showing the politics behind today's warfare, as well as how complicated it truly is. It was one of (if not) the most impartial modern military/war films I've seen in a while.
  15. Even then, not really. It goes either way. Youre better off looking at the film's actual reception, how big the opening is, how big the fanbase is (and if they'll rush out), what the competition for the movie is, if there's holidays, what day it releases on, what genre the movie is, if the movie itself is crowd pleasing, if it got awards noms for Oscar season, etc. Theres 99 things that play into a movies legs, and a Cinemascore ain't one.
  16. Unless, Jorah Mormont shows up, spreading his plague to all of Dany's army. Honestly, I think Dany's going to die at some point. It feels like it's a massive set up for her to fail.
  17. Some of these songs are way too low. In particular, The Sound of Music.
