  1. It's not that it's bad, not at all my problem. It's more a nitpicking personal spat with the movie I have, for the aforementioned two reasons (which are strictly related to box office and personal pride).
  2. I wish that were the case, @ocho, but it looks like unless SLOP's late legs get decimated for some reason, it's going to end above JB, DP, and Despicable Me 2 most likely. I'm also upset about it, SLoP ruined Dory's chances at $500m and would ruin my Disney Top 5 Domestic Club under the above scenario.
  3. Huh. Would not have thought Kubo would have opened the widest of the three new releases. Ben-Hur seems like a dump to barely be over 3k theaters.
  4. I think it takes over STB today and doesn't look back. Too little competition. Which is a shame, STB was a good movie. SS dropped a little harder than I expected, but it seems like these -30 to -35s on Wednesdays are becoming more commonplace thanks to Crazy Discount Tuesday. In addition, I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like Thursdays have been sliding harder this summer than usual, even with what feels like less big event movies. Is this an effect of those 7 pm previews that are becoming more prevalent, or is it possible that Tuesday is causing steeper slides throughout the week as it's pulling more ticket sales away from those other week days? I almost feel like Tuesdays are simply shifting around incomes, not necessarily drumming up more business for movies. The one exception I'll make to that comment is poorly reviewed movies that people wouldn't spend full price on period (Nine Lives and IA5 come to mind as good examples of this).
  5. I enjoy both cinematic universes, and I'm tired of hearing everyone bitch about which is better. I'm glad the foot was finally put down. This shit needs to stop.
  6. Fuck the stupid pets. Fucked me twice now. Gonna ruin my Disney Top 5 Domestic Club and it killed Dory's chances at $500m. Fuck you, Illumination.
  7. Not sure to be honest. I guess I wanted to share my predictions and opinions with people who care and get the fun of tracking box office statistics. My wife gets annoyed by it.
  8. Come on @fmpro, it's only gotta make $75m more after a $45m weekend. It will make it, though probably just squeaking past it. Labor Day will be the extra help it needs to get there.
  9. Besides Sausage Party and South Park, are there even any other R-rated animated movies?
  10. Good for Bourne, first day it's gained on STB since opening Saturday.
  11. Was Ted 2 really not that front loaded over the opening weekend? I swear it was more front loaded than that.
  12. Last night I said $3.5m on the way to $35m, I'll revise that slightly down to $33m. A fantastic number for a hard sell like this. I think legs will be strong enough to push it to $100m which is a huge success for a Rogen film period, never mind an R-rated animated film.
  13. Look, for what it's worth, I only discussed it because I knew it had been discussed before in the thread (both recently and when the news of it first came out a couple or so months ago) and it hadn't been spoilered at that point. I apologize for my contribution to the issue, and have refreshed myself on the spoiler policy.
  14. @Tele the Jet Baller Sorry, I had seen it discussed without a spoiler tag and thought that it was alright to discuss because of the leaked script. My bad. Edit: Disregard this. I've never done a spoiler thing so I'm testing to see if it works.
  15. Quick question about the orgy...I know you guys said That's the one part of the movie I'm not sure I'm ready to get behind.
  16. @Tele the Jet Baller, I think you're safe on that one. Though today came in a a couple hundred thousand than my $10m predict, I still think it can pull around $9m today and around $47.5m-$49m this weekend. Boring drop but what it needs to stay on track for $305-315m. I've broadened my range a little, but I can't see it doing more than $315m. Don't think legs will be good enough.
  17. Well no surprise here. My college town, full of super conservatives, won't be showing the movie. Gonna have to drive almost an hour to get my sausage fix.
  18. Hmmm. 14.2m 10m -30% 9m -10% 14m +55% 19m +36% 14.5m -22% Weekend: 47.5m (-64.6%) Seems reasonable to me. Still thinking $305m total or thereabouts, which is fine all things considered.
  19. Huh. Shocked at the lack of fudge here. If the opening weekend really is $134m, I think $300m is right where it ends up, and that's a lot better than we thought it would be on Saturday. The trend of feast or famine continues.
  20. Dory with the -34% week over week hold. Might be too little too late for $500m though.
