Yup. She overacts a bit but who doesn't? I wasn't really a fan of her work until I saw Never Let Me Go.

Sandler is not a bad actor. PT Anderson cast him in Punch Drunk Love and he did well in that role. The movie bombed and I think he realized that the point is to be successful and make money. There may be a joke somewhere in here but it isn't on Adam Sandler. -
What's the point ? A.) She is a good actress and B.) Razzies have completely jumped the shark. The next year's winner will likely be the next Adam Sandler movie or they will latch onto some other cool-to-hate successful movie at the Box Office.

I don't think this will last for more than 3.5 hours. This is a bit counter-intuitive but if they are doing musicals then they are more likely to be time conscious and are more likely to make an effort to manage the clock.

Agree. If you are serious about awarding the worst movie of the year then make an effort. If this is all a joke then at least make it funny. Twilight jokes are so 2009.

Here is the list of Performers and Presenters. http://www.indiewire.com/article/updated-list-of-2013-oscar-presenters-and-performers It is a big ass list but I think a lot of performers will be performing in groups. Then you have group presenters (The Avengers, Chicago casts etc.) so they can still wrap it up in 3.5 hours.

Actually there will be a huge social media meltdown if JLaw loses. There aren't enough Riva fans in the world to cause an epic meltdown.

I can see why Riva can be a cool pick this year. She is an 85 year old actress who has won accolades all around the globe but the movie has not been a hit in the US. This is the sort of "I am better than you because I love a movie performance that you haven't seen" kind of cool pick that hipsters go for. JLaw is over-exposed and every 12 year old girl knows who she is and is probably rooting for her.

Argo will win because it has momentum in a crowded category. That's usually the deciding factor in cases like this.

^^^ I didn't know that. Did she participate in any Oscar relatd events ? I don't remember THR or Variety covering her LA visit.

If Riva was able to come to LA and campaign then I think she would've walked away with the win. Now it is going to be very close with maybe Lawrence with an edge (SAG win counts a lot).

He is a very good writer but I don't know if he is a good stand-up comic. I think some sort of stand-up skills are required to be a good Oscar host. Regardless of how he fares, he should have at least a couple of very funny lines.

^^^ I'll give you that but a lot of people were still sure that she was going to get a nomination for Hope Springs. I think Streep is always a threat.

It is virtually impossible to predict anything in the Best Actress category. You won't find one person on this board who could've predicted even ONE 2012 nominee this time last year.

I was thinking that JLaw and DOR had some other big project in the pipeline or there was no reason for her to take a supporting role in March for this movie, especially not when she was going to shoot XMen in April.

ZDT will need good Oscar performance to keep its theaters. It is already down to only about 1500 theaters and without a substantial Oscar boost I just don't think it will make it.

Isn't Bale playing a Congressman? The real one probably had a younger wife. Anyway one of the great things about Lawrence is that she can play older roles too while most actresses her age can't. SLP role was supposed to be an older role as well and DOR had Zooey Deschanel in mind (late 20s) to play the role but Lawrence pulled it off better than Deschanel could have.

Legend Of Conan will likely bomb as the Conan movies were never big commercial hits in the first place. They did well overall but the concept is a tough sell these days.

5 weeks should be be about right for a character driven drama.
