  1. But Jumanji and the greatest showman did more than fine despite The Last Jedi.
  2. The movie was kind of boring? It took me three takes to watch it to the end.
  3. Maybe they're going to start the DCEU over? Or maybe DC and WB will be split? I read somewhere that WB and DC have to be sold separately. If the latter, I hope Universal buys DC.
  4. Just saw the movie! It was phenomenal and I can see why it's making so much money. The way they created a secret fantasy futuristic world and the way they combined tribal African elements with high level technology was absolutely beautifully done! The tone and the music was so perfect and I just loved all the costumes. It didn't really feel like a CBM to me to be honest, the story gave me more real life Lion kingish/fairy tail vibes.
  5. Agreed with this, it's a combination of multiple factors. Haven't seen this movie yet (will see it this weekend finally :)), but the movie also looks pretty damn good. The costumes are great, the actors charismatic, the trailers look cool. They hit all the right notes. I'm incredibly happy that Black Panther of all CBMs is doing so great. Now nobody can ever use the excuse that they can't cast POC in lead roles because "it won't sell".
  6. I'm not a Jennifer Lawrence fan, but the movie does sound interesting. Will probably check it out if the reviews are good.
  7. So he's really going to be in the movie. Okay, my hype level has officially increased with 1000%!
  8. Don't think it was ever officially confirmed, but Mark Strong will definitely play Sivana: Mark Strong spills on Shazam! secrecy
  9. Some of Hollywood see CBM's as "lazy" film making basically (see Jodie Foster's comments). It's a pity though, because I'm still in awe with what Nolan did with TDK trilogy.
  10. I only have one: Mary Poppins as the biggest movie DOM
  11. Maybe the target audience also didn't want a movie too long and too serious (BR 2049/Apes 3), were stung by bad reviews for the prequels (Alien/Justice League), or the movie strayed too far from the source material (Baywatch/TLJ(?)).
  12. Great for Jumanji! Also very good for TLJ imo. Already at #8 domestic of all time and crossed 1 billion worldwide. No matter how I look at it, it's an amazing achievement.
  13. I wonder when we'll finally hear from WB where they will go with DCEU from here on. From the beginning my personal hope was they would go somewhere like the LOTR movies in tone (maybe a bit lighter); heartfelt, epic, serious, but with a feeling of hope.
  14. I really hope Avatar 2 will be to Avatar like terminator 2 or Aliens were to terminator and Alien with respect to both reception and box-office. If there's anyone who can do it, then it's definitely Cameron.
  15. I first thought the toxic WOM for TLJ was only an internet thing amongst fanatics, but it seems to be true around me IRL as well :/. For whatever reason some people don't seem to like it at all.
  16. So, that would be an increase instead of a decrease compared to last weekend...amazing
  17. I'm a complete newbie to predicting, but I have to give it a try some time, so here goes:): 1. Mary Poppins - 500 2. JW: FK - 450 3. Avengers: IW - 425 4. Deadpool 2 - 380 5. Solo: a SW story - 375 6. Incredibles 2 - 350 7. Black Panther - 300 8. Fantastic Beasts 2 - 200 9. X-men: DP - 200 10. Aquaman - 180
  18. Jeah, but TESB was a controversial movie when it came out back in the day, and AOTC had mixed/bad WOM and came after TPM with also had mixed/bad WOM.
  19. I think part of the underperformance of TLJ may be because of TFA. After all was said and done, quite some people saw TFA as a rehash of the OT. Combine that with the mixed WOM TLJ is likely getting and you get an underperformance. I do fear that if the rumors of Solo are true and the movie is bad, than Disney is in serious danger of damaging the SW brand in eyes of general audience, not unlike what recently happened with WB and DC..
  20. Can't rate Logan, cause I haven't seen it yet. Thor: my favorite! Either Spider-Man: Homecoming or Wonder Woman. Either Spider-Man: Homecoming or Wonder Woman. Justice League GOTG 2: this and the first one just aren't my cup of tea. Fortunately for me, didn't see them in the cinema, and won't be seeing the third one at all.
