  1. Oh wow. I’ve only seen 2 movies this year (Avatar 2 & TLM) and out of the upcoming movies I may (or may not) see Dune 2, Aquaman 2 (if it’s as adventurous as the first) and maybe The Color Purple. All depending on my mood. I used to go to the movies every month though. Miss those times.
  2. 2012 In no particular order: Total Recall Prometheus Battleship Django Unchained The Hobbit The Bourne Legacy The Dark Knight Rises The Avengers Skyfall Project X The Hunger Games Don’t care that some of them flopped/are hated. This was probably the last year I truly loved superhero movies.
  3. Unfortunately, it’s true for some women. My friend said she prefers male-led action movies. To be honest (and to my shame) I agree.
  4. Hmm.. I wish they mentioned TLM and Ruby’s theater counts.
  5. How so? Some people (me) are not okay with Tom Cruise and his treatment of his daughter. Also, some people (me) are not interested in 10.000 sequels. Lastly, some people (me) have to be in a good headspace to watch a nauseating film about humans wiping out whole cities of innocents. That doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate quality films. I don’t care for Barbie and I’m not going to watch it on the big screen, but good for WB for finally getting a hit. It means they’ll have more money to make films I do care for. *shrugs*
  6. The backlash Rachel is receiving is nothing compared to what Halle has and is still receiving. I think Snow White won’t be in the same position as Mermaid.
  7. Also, in the Netherlands cinemas are still recovering from the pandemic. There are 30% less visitors compared to pre-pandemic. A news report said it’s because of inflation, high energy prices, but the biggest competition is ‘live entertainment’ (bowling, etc). I can imagine this to be the case for some other European countries as well. Someone mentioned that good weather is competition for cinemas in Germany and UK. People are just happy to do fun stuff outdoors again. Also, about Indiana Jones: some casual moviegoers were making fun of his old age. I know people are joking, but I think ageism may (or may not) become an issue. I’m ashamed to admit that I too was/am meh about Ford’s age.
  8. I feel sorry for WB, so many people rooting against their DC movies🥀If I liked CBMs I would probably give the Flash a shot. Anyway, rooting for Disney to win the weekend 👏
  9. Agree. However, it was just announced that it’s hitting digital platforms on July 11 (Spiderverse on July 18) so that might impact its legs… On another note, I’m disappointed so many huge movies are releasing in such a short time. Would have loved to see Transformers, Fast X, and Indiana Jones in cinemas, but I already saw the little mermaid twice and I don’t have *that* much money (I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one, so why did the studios do this?).
  10. Don't know what exactly happened, but wish him the best and I hope all is well.
  11. Or they just all stay put and may the best one(s) win. Last year other studios did profit from Disney (TLJ) underperforming, so why should studios move for something less than SW *shrugs*?
  12. Jupsz. Why are people acting like romance is bad in a movie? Love is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world and not downgrading female characters at all. Done right, it brings magic to a movie. James Cameron gets this.
  13. Jupsz. I will admit that the money some blockbusters make are mind-blowing. But they are not the rule, more the exception. With 80m OW only 87 movies EVER and only 6 movies this year made more money on an OW. Imo that's quite impressive .
  14. Early weekend estimates are in? Don't know how to paste a pretty list like you guys do: https://pro.boxoffice.com/weekend-estimates-ant-man-wasp-jurassic-world-fallen-kingdom-incredibles-first-purge/
  15. They really should move something. I think all of those movies can break out huge, but not with them coming out so soon after another. IMO I still think DP2 could have done better if it didn't open so close to IW.
  16. I get what you're saying, but imo an ant-man isn't really sillier than a talking tree or a talking raccoon. I agree though that it feels smaller, but that could also give it an advantage. We'll see though
