  1. Fair enough. I watched the movie once, over half a lifetime ago, so my memory of it is far from perfect.
  2. That just means that one character thinks he's divine, not that he necessarily is.
  3. Moana Doctor Strange Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them The Birth of a Nation Queen of Katwe Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Beauty and the Beast Rogue One Wonder Woman Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
  4. "You're right, I did lose a million dollars last year. I expect to lose a million dollars this year. I expect to lose a million dollars next year. You know, Mr. Thatcher, at the rate of a million dollars a year, I'll have to close this place in... 60 years. " -Charles Foster Kane.
  5. I watched it in 3D - well worth it, but in retrospect it seems a bit odd that while I had depth perception for everything, the protagonist didn't.
  7. I most certainly can deny that he's a murderer. Murder is the act of killing with premeditated malice. While, by all accounts, his actions did set in motion the series of events that led to her suicide many years later, he did not personally kill her, nor did he intend to cause her death. There are many words that accurately describe him, but "murderer" is not one of them.
  8. Like Miyazaki did on Ponyo, with the credits just being a list of everyone who worked on the movie in alphabetical order (or local equivalent)?
  9. Moana Kubo and the Two Strings Doctor Strange Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them The Birth of a Nation Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Beauty and the Beast Rogue One Wonder Woman Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
  10. That's the point. They don't. And their budgets combined are less than Norm of the North.
  11. My local(ish) theater chain just put up showtimes for the coming week. Sausage Party is still listed as "opens Friday", but has no showtimes scheduled.
  13. Hopefully, this turns out to be something more than another "what these people need is a honky" movie.
  14. Frozen was the family movie for the 2013 holidays, and had near-unprecedented legs after that, and still barely made it past 400. 350+ will be hard to achieve.
  15. That's the number of screens that are capable of showing 3D, not the number that actually do. In 2009, my not-exactly-local theater had one 3D-capable screen. Now, all eleven are. Yet, the number of 3D screenings on a typical day has actually decreased in that time.
  16. Given that left untreated, syphilis literally rots the brain, that doesn't look like a compliment to me.
  18. Moana Kubo and the Two Strings Doctor Strange Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them The Birth of a Nation Beauty and the Beast Rogue One Wonder Woman Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Despicable Me 3
  19. It's been a long time since I left the theater in such a good mood. I particularly liked the cabbie.
  20. Moana Kubo and the Two Strings Ghostbusters Doctor Strange Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Beauty and the Beast Rogue One Wonder Woman Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Despicable Me 3
  21. Looks like this year may well be the most impressive ever in terms of the movies that don't get nominated.
