  1. Barbie's IM last week was 3.38. It should be higher this weekend. But even with a 3.5 IM it would do $21.7m
  2. Viewer Anon said he heard this was the budget about a year ago. I gather that includes all the failed and unfinished Flash projects before the final one - so many writers and directors attached then dropped - and all getting some kind of payout.

  7. @Eric Reyes Ned Beatty a paycheck. There wasn't enough to pay Warren after what they paid Brando.
  8. As Denzel said, Pacino should have won for Godfather II, Serpico and/or Dog Day Afternoon (what a run he had) where twice he lost to older actors getting their late due - in particular Jack Lemmon. At least Denzel didn't have to wait as long to get his. My choice would have been RDJ for Chaplin but it was close and a stacked category. Damn just a quick look through the Oscar races in the 40s -70s seeing who Pacino and Lemmon lost to and so many brilliant worthy performances. Lemmon lost in 1960 for The Apartment and it was to Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry, against Olivier for The Entertainer, Spencer Tracy for Inherit The Wind. Wow.
  9. NYC Local Regal (7pm) Beetle has sold one less ticket than Shazam 2 ($3.4m) on a total of 3 instead of 6 showings. I'd say the theater learned it's lesson but it gave 3 (larger) showings to Strays which has sold 3 tickets. Blue Beetle: 43/771 Strays 3/903 Schools are starting to go back but still the multi should be considerably lower than S2's 8.856.
  10. South Korea $48,756,648 8/16/23 Numbers is doing the International #s exchange re calibration. SK passed $50m days ago. If exchange rates keep dropping th longer it stays in theaters making money the lower it's totals will be - probably on both sites since BOM does the same. It's inaccurate though. Edit: Meant to say I think BOM only does that on an individual country level but doesn't change the overall O/S number

  16. “We have to actively not choose the garbage. It'll help a lot.” If so, mission accomplished.
  17. You were just complaining about exchange rates working against it but won't acknowledge inflation? Even in just the last 5 years it's been nuts but comparing it to a film that came out more than a decade ago? I'm not saying it's a bomb - it should come close to 2x it's budget which was COVID inflated and should do well in ancillaries. But the US alone is not the reason the reason it's under performed.
  18. Sure but other films are also regularly getting blasted for not doing as well as they should because of no China. Regardless it's not just the US or China.
  19. It's not just the US though. WW it's going to come in under Fallout's $791m by at least $200m. It's fallen well short in other large markets - South Korea, Germany, France, and the big one China
  20. Probably because it's no longer making enough to offset the change in currency but they've been doing this for decades. It's most noticeable near the end of runs.
  21. I assume it's regularly scheduled & contractual and I doubt they wait until the end of the run. Even if there weren't rate fluctuations they'd be losing interest on that money - a lot of which they're paying interest on as loans.
  22. They always use the latest conversion rate which is bullshit but that's how movies start making less even though they're making more.
  23. Why? It's all part of making a budget. Just like ancillaries. No studio makes a budget just looking at theatrical. And Disney more than any other studio knows how to monetize their brands outside of theatrical. The difference is these are toys manufactured and sold by Disney. It's their profit. Regardless if their spend for production was $212m it's a financial success just with theatrical. Going on an on about how other movies were a bigger financial success so this one isn't a success is nonsense.
  24. Yeah that was biggest reason for large drops in those countries. Still amazes me that their b.o is so weather driven - not by hurricanes , tsunamis or blizzards - but by sunshine.
