  1. 'Infinity War' did not reach infinity but in the situation that Greece is in, this is the best it could've achieved: 129,549 admissions over the weekend. 150,496 admissions including Wednesday previews. Comps in the post above. MCU record opening. 300,000 admissions possible. More tomorrow...
  2. BP is certainly gonna overtake HP7–P2 WW It is also likely to top $700M in NA Taking IW into account, Disney will soon have 5 of the Top 10 films on the worldwide chart and 10 of the Top 20.
  3. The OS figure is truly impressive. The NA figure is completely disppointing.
  4. It would have to face competition from Deadpool 2 a week later. Not ideal.
  5. Second biggest first OS Friday ($83.5M), only behind The Fate of the Furious ($112.1M). Also, second biggest 3-day OS total ($178.5M), only behind The Fate of the Furious ($194.8M). It would be very hard to beat the latter's OS OW ($443.2M) but IW certainly has a shot at $400M. SAFE bet (and I cannot believe the words that I'm typing): $375M + NA OW $235M = $610M WW If only China had opened this weekend too...
  6. The fact that we always get SATURDAY figures for East Asia/Oceania countries before FRIDAY figures for certain European and American countries is beyond my understanding...
  7. With a $600M worldwide OW, IW could reach $1.5B without China. Then China should help it reach $1.7-1.8B. As long as it beats Jurassic World WW, I'm happy.
  8. It's looking like a massive Friday OS. Thursday openers staying flat. Other markets increasing. WOW. $75M at least?
  9. I think it is more likely than not that it will break the worldwide opening weekend record. If Friday's OS figure is anything above $60M and the NA figure is at $103-105M (according to estimates), then we can say that for sure.
  10. Will it go up or down from $55M tomorrow? What do you guys think? It opens in: Bangladesh Bulgaria Spain India Iceland Japan Sri Lanka Lithuania Madagascar Mexico Pakistan Romania Turkey Venezuela South Africa I think the Friday openings and the increases from Thursday in its Wednesday openers will offset the drop from its Thursday openers, so probably a slight increase? At least $60M, I would say...
  11. Wednesday was a (1) its opening day and (2) a holiday (Liberation day) while Thursday was a working day, so I don't think the drop is concerning.
  12. 'Avengers: Infinity War' sold 35,024 admissions on Thursday. That is right in between the opening days (Thursdays as well) of: 'Captain America: Civil War': 36,920 admissions ---> OW: 101,800 admissions and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice': 34,735 admissions ---> OW: 122,428 admissions It's hard to tell if it will be closer to CA3 or BvS. The prior opened during the Easter break (schools and universities were off). The latter opened on a holiday weekend (Friday was a national holiday – schools, universities and most workplaces were closed). The fact that IW opened so big without any holiday boost means that it could go even higher over the weekend. I think its weekend tally will probably end up somewhere in between CA3 and BvS (with a shot at beating BvS), but nowhere near the superhero record: 'Spider-Man 3' (159,000 admissions). In terms of gross, Deadline reported that it is an all-time opening-day record among superhero films, but obviously not a record in admissions.
  13. UPDATE: it made $40M on Wed and $55M on Thu but that doesn't change individual-day rankings. Still 3rd biggest OS for both days.
  14. IW made $56M on Thursday, which is the 3rd biggest first Thursday OS, behind Fate of the Furious ($58.9M) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($58.6M). If we discount Half-Blood Prince, for whose first Thurday I have no data, IW's 2-day total is the biggest 2-day OS total.
  15. Yeah, I know. I'm not suggesting that this has anything to do its overall gross in the future. It's just interesting from a historical point of view that no other films have achieved this on their first day.
  16. Its opening day overseas ($39M) is the third biggest ever, only behind Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($45.9M) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($43.6M).
  17. Amazing result Is the list posted by @Proxima Olive the all-time list (incl. Quo Vado) or are there some missing? P.S. I think its result in Italy in particular bodes well for its opening day Greece (although we will probably know on Monday the earliest).
  18. So the teams are independent from the Derby? As in, even if we lose, we can keep playing the Derby but we won't be part of this competition?
