  1. Keep your shirt on I like that movie too 😂
  2. @charlie Jatinder I had to adjust this BW/TROS comp, because I added in three new theaters since the pandemic. Adjusted, BW is 0.202x of TROS. That translates to...8.09M. This shows just how preview-driven SW is, because at this point in time, TROS sold 13,050 tickets. That's lightyears ahead of every other comp I have from 2019 (didn't track Endgame just for clarification). So yeah, maybe don't pay any mind to this comp in the future. The closest to this is Lion King, which (again, adjusted), translates to about 0.426x for Black Widow. That's about...9.8M. So yeah, I don't think I'm doing 2019 comparisons anymore.
  3. Space Jam: A New Legacy Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-11 and Counting (Fri) Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 43 208 7824 2.66% Total Shows Added Today: 3 Total Seats Added Today: 270 Total Seats Sold Today: 48 Comp 1.944x of Cruella's Thu+Fri T-11 Before Release (14.98M) By contrast, this did surprisingly well today. Not sure why though.
  4. Black Widow Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-3 and Counting (Thu) Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 2 93 3656 18063 20.24% Total Showings Added Today: 3 Total Seats Added Today: 277 Total Seats Sold Today: 297 Comp 1.694x of Godzilla vs. Kong 3 Days Before Release (16.44M) 2.258x of F9 T-3 Before Release (16.03M) Yeah this was not a good Monday, but it seems I'm an outlier as the other bumps from July 4th were far more prominent. It could also be that people are waiting for more showtimes to pop up. While not all of them are filled up, a lot of the good times are already very populated so I think some people could be waiting for that. I dunno, I'm just theorizing here.
  5. Just finished rewatching Superman. I know the whole "they don't make them like they used to" is a little unfair to a lot of great filmmakers today, but...man they don't make it like they used to. It feels so nice to have a sincere, hopeful, optimistic superhero movie that doesn't force out a million jokes or tries to deconstruct the superhero narrative. It's just a passionate, kind look at an amazing hero that effortlessly blends comedy and drama and heroics into a beautiful package and I really hope we get something like this again.

I just hope this really picks up momentum these final few days
  9. Just did a quick comp. T-5 days before release, Black Widow's Thursday is 8.658x of Cruella's Thursday and Friday numbers. That translates to...66.73M for Black Widow's Thursday...and now you know why we aren't comping this.

Either way, this is still a very, very solid baseline to begin.

  12. Wouldn’t Amazon get the MGM Pay 1 deal? At least when they own it?
  13. There are whole articles about the beef between Tyrese and The Rock. It is absurdly funny https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2477798/a-history-of-the-beef-between-fast-and-furious-dwayne-johnson-and-tyrese-gibson
  14. I will say this: I've called just about every franchise here "dumb children's movies" in the past, mainly as a way to show how ridiculous people get when it comes to these movies. I've never seen anybody get mad at me about me calling them that until now.
  15. Honestly when Peacock was first announced I felt a good launch title would have been a Tyrese-led Fast and Furious show. You got a big headliner with the brand and a recognizable name, you can put Roman into some fun little heist adventures, sprinkle in a few more cast members from the movies into there, and Universal would have had Tyrese shut up about Dwayne getting his own movie and not have him act like a doof on Instagram (well...okay he would still act like a doof, but at least he wouldn't tarnish the movies anymore). A win-win for everybody!
  16. Well there was actually a Purge TV show on USA Network and I believe season 2 takes place in the aftermath of a Purge night. Of course nobody watched it, so...
  17. That's...what I just mentioned? And again, it still seems weird they didn't try and make a live-action show on Peacock. Coulda did like a prequel or something about the creation of Jurassic World or showcase some raptor tamers doing their thing. Wouldn't have been amazing, but it would certainly make people, especially the fans, curious in checking out the service and get a couple headlines from the entertainment press.
