  1. As for Hobbs and Shaw, it sold about 4 tickets today, so...yeah. I'm probably not gonna do any public reporting save for the occasional update if I think it's appropriate. I'll still record each day though. Nothing wrong with trying to have this stuff as a back-up. And just so people know, this is the list of definite movies I'll track each day for the rest of the year: It Chapter 2 Joker Frozen 2 Jumanji: The Next Level Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker I am looking to potentially add a few more in there, like Maleficent or Doctor Sleep, but that will depend on both tracking (my cutoff is about 40M) and whether I have extra time on my hands.
  2. The Lion King Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-16 Days and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 100 1,182 18,477 6.40% Total Seats Sold Today: 104 As stated before, I can't do comps yet. But I'd say that selling 100 tickets in a day is pretty dang good. Of course, this was a big promo day for Loin King, what with the cast photos and featurette, so it'll be interesting to see if it will crash down to Earth, stay consistent, or perhaps do something crazier in the next few days.
  3. Also Gerard as Triton is an odd casting choice that I'm actually kind of behind? He's starting to grow a bit of a dad bod too, so it'd be perfect.
  4. I don't really get the whole dolls argument. If Zendaya gets cast, they'll just make Zendaya Ariel dolls. They already did this stuff for Naomi Scott and Emma Watson (although the Watson doll grew to be kind of infamous for looking...not good), and I'm pretty sure dolls based on the animated designs are still being sold in stores. And if Zendaya is Ariel, I feel confident in saying kids aren't gonna care or be confused by the different appearance (don't start the whole "the red hair is iconic" argument). I feel like we underestimate kids and their intelligence, and I think they can understand Zendaya Ariel and cartoon Ariel are two different interpretations, and will just be happy seeing a character and movie they love in live-action (and for black girls, they get to see a princess that looks like them).
  5. I just hope the only crocs you had to deal with were the shoes.
  6. I'm actually surprised at that Toy Story jump. I didn't expect it to drop or anything, but I expected something more muted in like the teens or low 20s due to FFH kicking it out of the big auditoriums. A mid-30s jump from Monday is pretty solid, albeit not as amazeballs as last week.
  7. There was a Monday thread up, but I guess sfran got things mixed up. But I did ask the mods, and they said it was just easier for all of the info for Tuesday to Sunday to just be in one thread. If you disagree, you can just DM the mods and talk to them about it.
  8. Transformers did 2.05x from its 6-day while TASM did 1.91x. TASM was hit hard by Dark Knight Rises in weekend 3, and while TLK is coming out on weekend 3, and it will ding it quite a bit, I don't think there will be anywhere near as much crossover for obvious reasons. So I'd say 2x is probably a safe bet, maybe slightly above Transformers.
  9. Using the middle of that true Tuesday, if it follows Amazing Spider-Man excluding that film's midnights/Monday Canadian previews: 51 Tue 43.2 Wed 29.3 Thu 37.9 Fri 43.8 Sat 33.1 Sun 238.3M 6-Day (excluding midnights) If it follows Transformers: 51 Tue 53.2 Wed 35.1 Thu 41.5 Fri 47.1 Sat 40.6 Sun 268.5M 6-Day (excluding midnights) This seems like it's set to do bonkers numbers, and it will, but maybe not to those extremes. Not only because of the lengthy year gaps, but also because those movies had the 4th land on a Wednesday instead of Thursday. Sadly, Despicable Me 2 and Lone Ranger didn't have their film open on Tuesday, so we're kind of in uncharted territory. But that number indicates 200M 6-Day as the minimum, arguably even something like 215M, which is very very good either way.
  10. If it continues to follow Maleficent for the rest of its run, it gives us 346.3M. And it's been holding way better than Maleficent for the past couple weeks, so I'd say yes.
  11. I know there are technically worse blockbusters, but the first Amazing Spider-Man is the first example I go to when it comes to boring, empty, soulless, cash-grabby blockbusters. And I know that movies are solely made to make money and we live in a world where a live-action Lion King is coming out in a couple weeks, but at least with stuff like the Disney remakes or whatever, there's at least an attempt to add something to it, or the director is making it out of a love for the original. They are trying, which goes a long way. TASM was made just to hold onto the film rights for a popular franchise, and it really feels like it.
