  1. To me, it will always be impressive that someone with a name as goofy as "Billy Bob Thornton" managed to have a career as a respected actor, at least for a period of time.
  2. I also want to add that the reaction to the Cars 3 trailer was hilarious. One little tot actually asked out loud, "did Lightning McQueen die?"
  3. Another delightful addition to Disney's canon that is filled with the magic of the studio's best efforts: gorgeous animation, great songs supplied by Lin-Manuel "Hamilton" Miranda ("How Far I'll Go" is destined to join their classic songs), plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, and a ton of heart. Newcomer Auli'i Cravalho makes Moana a terrific addition to the studio's line of strong female protagonists, while Dwayne Johnson continues to kill it in comedic roles. This is as good as Zootopia, Frozen, etc. and continues Disney's recent Pixar-esque run of quality animated films. A-

  5. Families for the most part are busy on Thanksgiving Day with dinner preparations and so on. Besides, considering most of the major theaters are located in the malls, they usually wait to do the movies as they're in the middle of the Black Friday sales.
  6. Might be too late for that to happen, though. Needed a premiere at AFI or something if it really wanted to build buzz.
  7. The marketing push is just as insane though, and it has virtually no other competition at Christmas (especially with Rogue One looking to be much less family-friendly than The Force Awakens). It's gonna clean up biiiiiggggg time.
  8. Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight, and Jackie are all locked in. And unless it's a bust, so is Silence. There hasn't been any word on it being a contender (in other words, no one knows when critics are seeing it, and it might drop too late to make a difference). But also, the movie dropping so late is making most skeptical of its quality. So there's no reason to really expect it to be a major contender.
  9. My top 10 of the year so far: 1. Arrival 2. Moonlight 3. Love & Friendship 4. Hell or High Water 5. Eye in the Sky 6. Zootopia 7. Hacksaw Ridge 8. The Edge of Seventeen 9. Finding Dory 10. The Jungle Book Will soon be seeing: Moana, Allied, Manchester by the Sea
