I don't see it sticking tbh. Affleck and the victims settled out of court and part of the agreement is no doubt that they can't speak about it. Unless there are others...
Not to mention everyone citing this Daily Beast article that has somehow *magically* surfaced around the time of the movie's release kinda rubs me the wrong way.
This category has been favoring "groundbreaking"-type of visuals the best couple of years but this year's candidate in that arena (Billy Lynn) has already completely flopped. So it's kinda up for grabs. I'm also feeling it's gonna be between La La Land and Silence.
The Edge of Seventeen should've stayed in September, but it probably would've flopped no matter where it opened. The R rating killed it.
The Space Between Us has been having trailers in circulation since the beginning of summer (back when it was supposed to be an August release). Can't wait until it opens so I never have to see the trailers for it ever again.
It didn't start out that way. It was originally a much more modestly budgeted comedy, that saw said budget spiral out of control due to various production problems (including poor test screenings, lost film, etc.).
Bad Santa 2 actually might not do too bad for an unfunny-looking cash-grab sequel that was at least a decade too late. Of course, a $25-30M total is nothing to crow about either.
