  1. Theres plenty of movies that could be blamed for game adaptations having a bad reputation but Persia isn't one of them.
  2. I thought it was one of its strong points. It was a fun adventure, the story and lack of chemistry between the jake and gemma were the weak points for me.
  3. If this is as good as Prince of Persia I will be satisfied, although it has the potential to be better based on the concept alone.
  4. Maybe its better to wait longer in between. A movie like this which relies on technology, every year that passes should help the final product look better.
  5. Is this really happening? I'm cautiously optimistic. It could make a great movie, with the mix of modern setting and technology contrasting with the ancient sworda and sandals type setting. I think Fassbender can bring a lot of quality to the role which is important too.
  6. The way the humans treated the alien race was actually horrible for me to watch personally. Its something that has taken place throughout history and continues to happen presently within our own world and seeing it in this context and knowing that it would probably happen in the same way irl really resonated with me on an emotional level. The scene with home tree burning almost brought tears to my eyes.
  7. I don't know if stallone can bring the crowds in alone anymore, the right young co star could be the difference in this movie being a hit or not.
  8. But jfk actually happened. This is a movie revolving around the killing of a current leader of a country. I'm all for free speech and support the release of the movie, but I can also understand why someone would object to a movie hypothetically killing them and when that person is the leader of a country, no matter how small or lowly regarded, it's bound to rustle feathers.
  9. Im sure its common with smaller / low key movies but are there many examples of blockbuster movies with big budgets that made more on home video than in theaters?
  10. If the U.K made a movie about killing a serving american president, do you think it would be released in america without any controversy?
  11. But I think Avatar helped enlarge the market for 3d movies which has had a impact in cinema and home entertainment culture. There were news stories about people visiting similar mountains to the floating ones in avatar iirc too. Titanic is based on a real disaster with real historical facts to explore or museums/artifacts, Avatar doesn't have that.
  12. Yeah, I always remember his voice saying some of those lines like "You crossed the line!". Wish he had more bad ass roles like that.
  13. I really love the first movie, the whole avatar world, characters and it's message. Maybe it doesn't have the same status as Titanic but I'm still excited to follow the story in any sequels. If they can show more of Earth or other new things in the Avatar universe I think it could be an epic set of movies that could be more in the vein of star wars or the marvel universe. That's what separates it from a singular movie like Titanic. The possibilities with Avatar are endless when you use your imagination. Just as a side note, I thought Jeremy Piven would have been great in Giovanni Ribisi's role.
  14. The problem imo is that pirating media via the Internet has become so widespread for such a long time now that there is a generation of kids/young people that have grown up without having to pay for music or movies and who almost expect to get it for free. Changing that attitude and helping them to see the value in supporting the media they enjoy is one of the most important challenges Hollywood has to overcome.
  15. It's all about risk and reward. Same for boxers who carry on fighting for money or glory with broken hands, these actors like bale/gyllenhaal are taking these risks in order to get more recognition for their performance because of what they are willing to go through to make themseleves stand out on screen. If they win Oscars and are paid well for it , I'm sure they'll think its worth it.
  16. Nothing in hollywood. Craig could play bond until hes 60 and they would still cast him with 25 year old beauties who cant resist his charms.
  17. Even if they chose a younger bond, it doesnt mean they'd get more movies out of him, there's too many different factors which could affect that. They should choose someone who can add something to the history and legacy of bond, even if it was only for 2 or 3 movies
  18. Should have done the vod release straight after the weekend. Either way, I hope people check it out in cinemas. There are some movies I found hilarious as part of a group viewing but lost their charm in an empty living room.
  19. Why are the vod companies still passing? They think their website and will get brought down or something?
  20. With all the campaigns and publicity, I thought they might have u turned back into a full wide release. At least this is better than nothing though.
  21. Power rangers will have a similar run to tmnt imo. Good news for lin AND star trek, though I guess this rules him out of the next fast and furious hot seat?
  22. Yeah, I don't have much faith in this movie actually being made anyway.
