  1. Also just remembered the $117m from Russia the original got will be out of play as well. Will need a hopeful China release to pull up a lot of the slack (I would still be impressed by $1.5-2B WW).
  2. Didn't Charlie calculate what Avatar's OS gross would have been with current rates (I guess not factoring in anything else like inflation)?
  3. So just how disadvantaged is TWOTW going to be compared to the original on exchange rates alone?
  4. Is there a projection for expected Avatar take this weekend? And is this a global re-release or US only?
  5. Eh let EC take his victory lap lol. TGM has certainly been the most fun BO run to follow since Avatar (give or take TFA's first 17 days), and probably 3rd most fun since Titanic (after MBFGW as well).
  6. Transformers were VFX extravaganzas. I also question whether a China breakout could have happened for this given the content.
  7. So $1.47B should happen... $1.5B probably a stretch barring some awards re-release?
  8. I think they should probably keep it on Sat/Sun (or maybe even have it be both days) rather than weekday to fully capitalize on all showtimes since the main limitation with weekdays is people having school/work to deal with.
  9. So this weekend TGM will be first film to remain in the Top 10 from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend since the first Top Gun back in 1986. The only other film to do it since 1982 was Return of the Jedi. Sister Act came close (debuting in May and spending same number of weeks in the Top 10 so far), but its opening weekend was technically the one after Memorial Day.
  10. Yeah I worry no boost this weekend as a result.
  11. With AMC discounting tickets so heavily this coming Saturday I wonder how that will impact TGM's Labor Day weekend haul.
  12. Exactly, would only really be concerned if this was not offset by stronger Friday increase, but either way $700m should be on lock (this coming from someone who thinks a film has no business being in any sort of digital release while it's still in the fucking Top 5).
  13. Sometimes schools start again mid-week in August so I imagine there was some impact with that.
  14. This is what I've found for top 13th weekends: 1. Titanic - $17,578,815 2. Avatar - $6,526,421 3. MBFGW - $6,209,500 4. E.T. - $6,020,986 5. Home Alone - $6,001,085 6. TGM - $5,850,166
  15. It annoys me too but nobody really cares about ranking 4th or tied for 2nd on $1m+ day streak compared to increasing on 12th weekend.
  16. Still rue those Wed/Thurs near misses for $1m since with the PLF boost there is a chance it stays above $1m for Mon/Tue this week.
