Ok, everybody knows I'm not a fan of Marvel, but what's up with the JP succes making people say Marvel is not THAT profitable? It is MUCH more profitable than JP will ever be, it's really that simple. I seriously don't get it. And SH movie becoming underdogs? LOL, what? As much as I hate to say it (and I really do hate to say it!) the SH franchises control todays market. The fact that one other franchise managed to beat one of them on OW in the US is just a small part in the grand scheme of things.

Actually, the ONLY record it can possibly beat is the December OW one. The all time OW is out of reach, so is the WW OW, the OS OW, the midnight OW.

Exactly. They didnt exactly share the same audience. But JW is a family movie through and trough.

This isn't as big as it seems. I mean is supermassive but getting a 280M OS OW with almost 100M coming from China and opening everywhere (except for Japan) means it would only do 180M in the rest of the territories, which is a farcry from the 314M DH2 made on OW (it didnt open in China on OW) and less than AoU. Its good to make this observation because of the end result: I see OS ending around 820-830M.

IO is pretty much fucked by the schedule. Opening after a family movie makes 200M is hard. Add the fact that it's legs will be destroyed by Minions a few weeks later and even te lower expectations of people around here might be too much.

I find it ridiculous that Disney will likely lose the year DOM despite having TA sequel and SW in a single year. I find it even more ridiculous that WB is still way ahead of Disney through this point of the year despite having none of their signature franchises Who wouldve predicted that at the beginning of 2015.
