  1. Mid-50s drop is pretty standard for horror, anything 50% or better is staggeringly phenomenal. Scream's WOM is good, but nothing out-of-this-world. Heck, plenty of decent horror flicks drop 60+% on their second weekend. Plus, Scream has a pretty large fanbase at this point that will rush out to see it on opening weekend. This is evidenced by the movie's 5.7M in previews, which is a much larger share of its opening weekend than even Scream 5's 3.5M last year. And Scream 5 dropped 60% last year so a mid-50s drop is certainly plausible, if not likely.
  2. I still think Shazam takes it. Scream is going to drop 50% at least. Shazam - 25M Scream - 18-19M Creed 3 - 14-15M 65 - 4M Cocaine Bear - 3.5 Quantumania - 3.5M Yeesh... looking like a rough weekend lol.
  3. Not surprised 65 went up, it’s Saturday numbers around me were ridiculous. I saw one sell-out, thought “okay… must be a group rental.” Then the next show sold out too… then the next one. Scream awesome as one would expect. Good to see this franchise still experiencing growth, although I would say this is the peak. I haven’t seen the film so this might turn out to be wrong, but unless they bring back Campbell or even Lillard for Scream 7, I think it’s going to start to decline from here. Still, a 100-110M run for this is awesome. Champions too did better than it could have Shame that Shazam is about to open to 25M and ruin this awesome March streak.
  4. The fact that this is still doing double-digits despite very little buzz (other than the first trailer dropping MONTHS ago), lackluster marketing, a crowded market, awful reviews and poor WOM, and the overall lack of strength for original films lately show me that there was DEFINITELY potential for this!! Honestly, if this movie had come out in the 2010s with a lead with the equivalent star power as 2023 Adam Driver, had good reviews and solid WOM, this would have opened to high-20s at least, maybe even 30M+.
  5. Sheesh... at this point an opening under The Suicide Squad wouldn't surprise me for Shazam.
  6. I'm happy for how well anime has caught on at the domestic box office. But these awful, awful drops (80+%) are indicating that they are still playing to a niche fanbase and haven't really broken out much beyond that. And yes, I know that this recent Demon Slayer is just a few TV episodes packaged together as a sort of "fan event", but so many of these big anime releases have had similarly bad legs.
  7. Yea Dominion was better than this. And I really didn't like Dominion lol.
  8. Really enjoyed this. Also, I might need to re-watch Creed 2 because I might have seen a different movie than everybody else I think that one is my favourite out of the 3. Sure, it's the most melodramatic, but melodrama in a boxing movie... come on.
  9. Yea, this is a “dinosaur” movie I guess. Worst of 2023 so far.
  10. So 65 kinda sucks lol (probably worst of the year so far for me?) but it’s actually not doing terribly where I am Guess we’ll see lol.
  11. TMNT. Meg’s dropping from the first (25/70). Gran Turismo is a non-starter (15/40) and TMNT will be a hit (35/110).
  12. I'm starting to get Captive State vibes from this, if anyone remembers that film.
  13. Won't be as big as the 2014 "not Michael Bay" film (also... holy crap looking back, that was one hell of a box office run) but I think it will out-gross the 2016 seqel. Could see 35/110M run. Looks fun!
  14. Shame about Operation Fortune, really. I thought it looked like a lot of fun, and it's great to see Ritchie reteaming with Hugh Grant after Gentlemen, and with Hartnett/Statham after Wrath of Man. Didn't release in Canada so I didn't get the chance to see it (yet) but I'm really hoping I enjoy it. Looks a lot better than his upcoming film, at least.
  15. I’m fully on board with “D&D will actually put up a respectable gross but its budget is simply too high to not be a bomb” camp. I can honestly see a 100M total for it if it’s good.
