    Really hoping this is a good-sized hit (for the genre). Would show these streamers that theatrical releases for their headliner product can be a viable financial decision, which is only good news for us who love the theatrical experience. Hopefully Apple takes note and really does go all-in on theatrical distribution beyond just Killers of the Flower Moon. Hoping Napoleon and that Matthew Vaughan actioner get full-blown theatrical releases.

    Hmmm… I might hop off the 40M train for D&D and settle for 35. Pre-sales nationwide don’t look strong enough to justify 40. Locally, that’s another story as it’s a beast here. But oh well, let’s hope it has legs and strong OS.

    Had a dream this was like 75 minutes long, they cut out all the songs, it took place in a swimming pool instead of an ocean so Disney could “cut costs”. Melissa McCarthy had one line, and Flounder was just a voice inside Ariel’s head. Man, it was terrible.

    I think the trailer looks great! Going to get destroyed at the box office in June though. A total under Lightyear wouldn’t surprise me.

    I’m really not feeling this. A24 also seems muted for marketing, and this is coming from someone who is usually caught up on big A24 projects. Im kind of getting worried to be honest.

    The poster is getting a lot of traction online, more than I was expecting tbh. The Hunger Games in general is also seeing a bit of a resurgence in pop culture/Tik Tok crowd. I had initially had this as a MAJOR bomb (25/65 kind of run). And while I don’t think it’ll reach anywhere near the heights of the last films, I could see a Fantastic Beasts sequel drop from Deathly Hallows 2 comparing this to Mockingjay 2. Which would be about 65/175 run.

    Shazam is going to end up being the “one of these does not belong” in the category of superhero flops like Morbius and Dark Phoenix. Honestly. Is it the best movie of the year? Heck no. But this was ENTIRELY WB’s fault, not Sandberg and co. making a bad movie or anything like that. It’s genuinely a lot of fun.

    With 30 Friday I see it struggling to reach 80. Probably 75 estimate, 78 actual. Still great.

    Shazam 2 has probably the funniest scene I've seen in a movie theater in the last year. Although I'm attributing 90% of why that scene works to Helen Mirren's line delivery (if you've seen the film, you probably know what scene I'm talking about).

    You know what, I’m in the camp of “this was actually pretty fun!” Definitely agree with the RT consensus that it’s less focused than the first. And it’s got some dumb moments for sure, but it’s also a hell of a lot of fun (and surprisingly a good amount of the humour lands) so the dumb stuff doesn’t stick out as much as it did in Black Adam.
