    I mean, each year that a Creed movie has come out, I've liked it more than half of the Best Picture nominees But that ain't gonna happen. Every LOTR had a best picture nomination from what I recall, and I don't think Creed has ever gotten much Oscar love, minus Stallone's nomination.

    Not box office related but if Are You There God It's Me Margaret is anywhere near as good as The Edge of Seventeen, it's going to be one of my favourites of the year. I know it's pretty well-regarded among those who have seen it, but that movie is SLEPT ON. It's probably up there in my "top 3 'teen' movies that influenced my life in that era".

    With the reception to this film, and how it solidified how big these iconic Dreamworks characters still are in the cultural mind, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see KFP4 hit 250M or so, and Shrek 5 to out-gross Shrek 2 unadjusted.

    Great number for Creed, but we have to remember that that's not just from Thursday. I think it will be a bit more frontloaded than a lot of us are expecting. Still, something around 42-43M is still really solid for it.

    Sad to say Canada isn’t looking nearly as strong. But as someone who worked at and tracked Canadian theaters in both 2015 and 2018, Creed was simply just never as strong here as it is in the States. So when I say my comps all point to around 2-2.5M for true Thursday, take that with a massive grain of salt.

    Don’t think I’ll have time for a rewatch of the first 2 before seeing this (life just way too busy this month). Anyone know exactly how much you need to know going in? I’ve seen both movies but not since theatres. Or is there a good recap video that anyone could recommend?

    I genuinely think Jenna Ortega is one of the biggest stars in the world right now, at least with the under-25 crowd. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of her fans aren't old enough to buy tickets for this

    Just responding to a few ideas over the last couple pages. Scream I honestly feel like is going to be the biggest March opener (hot take?) 48M opening vs 45M for Wick 4. Dungeons and Dragons, if it ends up being good, I could see being one of those "does better than expected but is still a flop given the budget" movies. Something like 100M domestic 350M worldwide. Mario ain't touching 100M OW anymore lol. 100M 5-day though looks good.

    This is weird since Cineplex has a distribution deal of Lionsgate movies in Canada.

    Anecdotal but Cocaine Jesus and Bear Revolution are both having pretty strong holds today locally. Wouldn't be surprised to see each of them slightly improve on Deadline's early weekend projections.

    Yup, just looking at a handful of theatres in my region, I'd be shocked if Cocaine Bear didn't reach 2M previews tonight. So far my lowest comp points to 1.9M. Next is 2.2, 2.4, and then 5.5 (which is an outlier that I'm not even going to bother factoring in).

    Eh... I don't know if the lesson Marvel should be taking away from Quantumania is "hire MORE Rick & Morty writers".

    I really didn't like this movie, but a healthy box office is good for everyone (especially those of us who like tracking it lol) so I'm still rooting for it.
