Looking forward tot his, but it'll no doubt drop from the first one. That's the thing with these requels; their follow-ups just don't have the staying power of the first. Expecting 25/60.
X did really well locally tonight (like, 0.75x Candyman) but across Canada it fell quite short of that comp. will be interesting to see what the final number is in the morning.
This is selling relatively well at my theater tonight. Granted, my location does super well with A24, so I guess it doesn't mean too much. But I'd say this could hit 5M based on what I'm seeing regionally.
See, horror doesn't usually sell insanely strongly in my region (which is why during big horror weekends, I can only ever really use other horror titles as appropriate comps). But A24 is insanely popular here, and so X has had some pretty decent pre-sales. Expecting walk-ups to be absolute trash though
The thing I can’t get over is how dull (most) of the new characters are in this. With a few exceptions, I honestly hardly remember anything about any of them.
The writing actually looks pretty good! But yea, I can’t get behind that bleh animation. It’s not like spiderverse where there is an artistic reason to go that route. It’s not like the Bad Guys which is a new movie IP and so can establish its own look. This is part of an established franchise, and people expect these movies to look and feel a certain way. It genuinely looks like Dreamworks was trying to cut corners and make a cheaper movie, and it shows.
