  1. Shush. It's not sexist if a womyn said it.
  2. Sounds like someone's jealous they will lose in every dick measuring contest.
  3. sorry that not everyone wants to make superhero films and hangover ripoffs!
  4. That was a while ago... I mean by the same metric the original had a 7x multi I'm pretty sure? times have changed. also jp3 had a 5day opening. I do agree though, FK will have decent legs, for same reason as it will overperform everyones silly low predictions - it is not fan driven.
  5. is there a reason for that? original animated hollywood films seems to be pretty spontaneous in China? I mean didn't Coco have a low opening? same with zootopia
  6. Ok so I guess time for the bi-weekly pixar ranking in the conversation thread! 1) Inside Out 2) Toy Story 3) Toy Story 2 4) Monsters, Inc. 5) The Good Dinosaur 6) Cars 7) Coco 😎 The Incredibles 9) Up 10) WALL.E 11) Finding Dory 12) Toy Story 3 13) Cars 2 The others I either haven't seen or can't remember.
  7. Been at a festival for a week with no internet, and it feels like I've missed so much. Jurassic World has been out for a week... now I see Incredibles 2 reviews are out... and Ocean's 8 came out in america. Had loads of fun, slightly kicking myself I haven't been to a festival before. Seeing guns n roses while pinging off my nut was an experience. There's also something very dignifying about going a week without a shower - once you're dirty, you're dirty and you feel free to do whatever you like because you have no need to get clean again. Almost didn't want to have a shower today.
  8. Haven't done full list yet but here is a taster, my top 15. Of course I only consider those films made by the House of Mouse. No other animations are relevant. 1. The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning (2008) 2. The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (1998) 3. Aladdin 3: Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996) 4. The Jungle Book (2016) 5. Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time (2007) 6. Tarzan 2: The Legend Begins (2005) 7. Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar (1994) 8. Buzz Lightyear: Star Command (2000) 9. Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005) 10. The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea (2000) 11. The Lion King 1.5 (2004) 12. Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World (1998) 13. Mulan II (2004) 14. 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure (2003) 15. Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure (2001)
  9. small decrease, exactly as I predicted and exactly what will happen in the US! JURASSIC POWAH.
  10. You might not personally like the MCU movies and you are free to think the films are "piece of shit after piece of shit" (I don't even disagree with you) but that clearly is not how the audience responded to the movies as most of the audience enjoyed most of the MCU films. Not the case with certain other franchises like Pirates and Transformers which did have several films which were not well received.
  11. hoooo boy that Scott Mendelson writeup of this weekend is something else.
  12. £1 is currently around $1.30, back in 2015 £1 was around $1.60. Since Brexit (around May 2016) dollar to dollar comparisons are really not accurate as it has changed so much. Oh shit completely forgot that was coming! Think that comes out today?
  13. What the hell happened to the forum and how do I undo it
  14. It stuns me how many Sherlock Holmes adaptations we're getting... We had a tentpole blockbuster action version in 2009. Then less than a year later, 21st century crime drama which is a huge hit and lasts several years and still going. This year we've had a not inexpensive animated movie based on it, and we're getting a Ferrell/Reilly comedy vehicle at Christmas. Possibly a 3rd Guy Ritchie one soon - Ritchie and Downey will soon have empty plates and I expect them to go back to do that. And there was another drama about Sherlock himself which featured no detective stuff, that film was a couple years ago. Isn't there also an American police procedural based on Sherlock Holmes as well? Can't remember what its called. Sherlock Holmes you think of it and it's quite a niche nerdy thing that isn't much like most other popular stuff among general audiences but the fact all of these can cohabit the space and all succeed (well.. maybe not all, sorry Gnomeo) is testament to how strong the brand is. I know Will Ferrell is very hit and miss but I think Holmes & Watson is gonna do really well.
  15. better or worse than 'instruments' though? also.. mechanical not mechanistic?
  16. People keep making these jokes but nope lol they have been on point for the past 2 years of touring I just hope I'm conscious by the time it gets to GNR
  17. I only realised the other day seeing this trailer in the cinema that it's not a Peter Jackson film. Although he puts his name on lots of things and is involved in lots of projects he hasn't actually made much non-Middle earth since the 90s. Only King Kong and lovely bones. One of which is absolutely fantastic - and made over 500M at the box office, unfortunately not enough to make it a profitable movie but that was due to its huge budget. It was still a box office hit.
  18. best picture, colin firth got his a a a a a ac ting osc c c c c c ar, also pretty sure Tom Hooper got best director
  19. you can think that as much as you like but I think it's more that awards shows among many other live TV programmes are collapsing. I mean the grammies don't have the politicising of the Oscars and their ratings are dropping each year right? Live TV news is used less and less and award ceremonies are no exception. anyone interested in them can stream them online or just find results by a quick google search. That doesn't mean they are popular and well known with the general public. The Kings Speech and The Artist for example were for a very specific demographic. THe same way that Girls Trip made 100M last year... doesn't mean the average member of public has seen it/ aware of it
  20. I know but I havent seen that so can't judge so didn't mention it. He also directed Sky High which wasn't terrible tbh
  21. The Oscars are irrelevant and have been for some time. Best Picture hasn't been a proper popular film (at least DOM) since Return of the King - and I only know that because I just googled the list of winners.
  22. Actually Mike Mitchell can make his puff the magic dragon and if it's a hit, we get Taika Waititi to make a sequel about his brother Albi.
  23. yeap. He directed Trolls - which is THE most annoying dreamworks film to date. He directed Shrek 4 - the one seriously bad shrek film. He directed the live action part of Spongebob movie - i.e. all the bad bits of that film. It's not reassuring. That being said animation directors can be really uneven with their movies. Best thing about his wikipedia page...
