I have heard TITANIC called a masterpiece, AVENGERS, INTERSTELLAR and a bunch of other recent movies that weren't very good (in my opinion) but were popular. People are entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong they are
For the record, I also think it's ludicrous to suggest that there was some sort of "backlash" upon the movie's release. There was no controversy. Just some people who didn't enjoy the film, felt they should speak up more because it was getting insanely good press.
I was the same, I remember me and my brother complaining about how bad it was in the car drive home. I hated the film from the moment George Clooney opened his mouth to that final ridiculous touchdown.
I also think comparing it to Mad Max is extremely inaccurate.
You Know My Name is the best Bond theme of the last 25 years.
Also, I disagree that Sam Smith is not huge. He's one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, artists in pop at the moment. At least from what I hear on radios, in shops, online, people talking about etc.
Ooh, if we're doing October anticipation:
1. The Martian (although I am seeing it in September)
2. The Lobster
3. Macbeth
4. Crimson Peak
5. Suffragette
6. The Program (only because I know the person upon which the film centers)
7. The Walk
0. MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL RE-RELEASE!
It is not a Marvel Studios production. It is a Sony production and Sony release, but it will be on the same level of canon as the MCU. Kevin Feige is co-producer to ensure it fits in alongside the Marvel Studios movies.
