  1. That was the idea. Box office is dead atm, forum is quieter, so I figured it'd be a good time to do another one of these. Plus it gives me (and others) a load of comedies to watch in a month that has plenty of dull films.
  2. A few months ago I ran a "Best movies of the 21st century" poll and it was pretty successful, so I thought I'd do another. This time, it's a roundup of our favourite comedies - or, more specifically, our favourite movies that make us laugh. That is to say, a film doesn't have to be considered a comedy in order for it to qualify for this list. If it makes you laugh, that's what matters. E.g. Indiana Jones may not be considered a comedy, but I think it's really funny. Hell, if you think Schindler's List is just the most hilarious thing, then feel free to put it on your list. Rules: - Any movies you want to rank on your list, can be on your list! - Please list up to 50 films max. You can do fewer and that's fine. - Please rank your list! - Please submit lists to me via PM. You are obviously free to post what you like on this thread, I'm not a moderator, but it is a nicer surprise in the final list - Deadline 21 September Points system: 1 point for #50, incremental 1point increase for each next rank. #1 film on each list gets an additional 25 point bonus. Have fun devising your lists! Hopefully this will be an opportunity to bring some perhaps lesser known gems to new people. Keep laughing!
  3. WB has had two 150M+ movies and a couple of minor hits (and minor misses). At least they haven't had a $200M bomb like Disney.
  4. Shrek 2 - 919M Finding Nemo - 866M Shrek 3 - 799M The Lion King - 784M Ice Age 2 - 661M Yes, Shrek had two films in top 5 all time. More than that, it had two in the top three ever.
  5. Damn. I just checked the numbers and here, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is heading into its 13th consecutive weekend with $400,000+ theater average.
  6. They got the right costume... shows real promise for the quality of the film. I'm really excited.
  7. The Empire Strikes Back vs. Raiders of the Lost Ark Jaws vs. The Lion King Jurassic Park vs. Star Wars The Lord of the RIngs: The Two Towers vs. Back to the Future
  8. Oops, sorry I mistook you for Dar... And yeah I guess it depends on your criteria. If we're literally just talking about their films from the past 5 years or so then Nolan is even worse off for me as I don't like TDK, Inception or Interstellar. Just TDKR. I would have to add a bunch of people like Matt Reeves, Jonathan Glazer, Josh Trank, Gareth Edwards etc to that list as well.
  9. We agree there. I think it's great that he's one of few directors who can make successful, popular intelligent blockbusters. It's just best director working today isn't quite the same thing.
  10. Andrew Niccol: Gattaca and Lord of War are genius films Peter Jackson: LORD OF THE MOTHERLOVIN' RINGS, but even better Heavenly Creatures and the masterpiece of King Kong; not to mention some other great early movies Andrew Adamson: Shrek is one of my favourite films ever and I think it's truly groundbreaking. Shrek 2 is one of the best sequels ever made. First Narnia film was wonderful. I loved Cirque du Soleil too. Ben Stiller: I think Tropic Thunder and Walter Mitty are terrific, The Cable Guy & Reality Bites are also great films, he's much more consistent than Chris Nolan and he's made more great movies, it's as simple as that. George Lucas: obviously I love SW, and he qualifies as a still-working director. Anyway. You asked.
  11. Fine. Steven Spielberg J. C. Chandor Ridley Scott Duncan Jones Paul Thomas Anderson Richard Linklater Terry Gilliam Paul Verhoeven Thomas Vinterberg Andrew Niccol Robert Zemeckis Peter Jackson David Cronenberg J. J. Abrams Kenneth Branagh Guillermo del Toro Martin McDonagh Pete Docter George Miller Andrew Adamson Ben Stiller Ang Lee David Fincher Alfonso Cuaron Edgar Wright Paul Feig Isao Takahata Kathryn Bigelow Joel & Ethan Coen Stephen Frears Sam Mendes Bennett Miller Matthew Warchus Steven Soderbergh David Lynch Phil Lord & Chris Miller I'm sure there are plenty more who I can't think of off the top of my head.
  12. Why would the UK poster say October 14 when it releases in the UK on February 5?
  13. Could say that for most of the releases this month. They have made the film so they might as well release it and sell a few tickets. They got a grand total of £2 from me, I'm sure I am saving Disneys ass
