  1. Top Gun apparently the whole film was shot on IMAX, only partially for Tenet. With the bigger brand power, I hope Top Gun takes all the IMAX screens and Tenet gets NONE.
  2. Yes, she did say that she had an abortion. Hard to believe some people are still offended by someone saying that in 2020 but whatever. It was something along the lines of "I'm grateful for my right to choose as it allowed me to keep doing my career". As much as an awful person Trump is, I really don't think he has any intention of causing a war.
  3. No. I do not get it. That is a disgusting attitude and you should be ashamed of holding that opinion.
  4. Red bull? Also thanks for the above info about his collaborations.
  5. Should have got it for writing The Last Jedi, that film really got snubbed from Academy Awards. Should have got Adapted Screenplay.
  6. That's what I meant by "Regardless of what side they are on". People don't want to hear politics from movie stars.
  7. Why would this brand collab / deal be done if they didn't put the car in the movie...? That's the point of it. Mercedes certainly have nothing to gain by making an Avatar car that never gets shown to the public. And its not like they are planning to make this into a real car. 😛 It will be in the film in some shape or form.
  8. I think people just don't like the smugness of Hollywood celebrities getting paid loads for their movies (or maybe not loads in Michelle Williams case, HAHAHA) and then telling the public about politics. People don't want to hear about politics from rich hollywood elites. Doesn't matter if they're on the same side or a different side of a given topic to you.
  9. Justice League Minority Report (Lexus) I Robot The Island (and, of course the brand new... in Spies in Disguise!! There have been various cars like these over past few decades. Custom cars built as a deal between movie studio and car brand, for promotion. James Bond has had a few of these i think. including in the most recent one. Somewhat common and has very little to do with the quality or type of movie. Although these are all in sci fi movies (unsurprising given the nature of the prototype cars)
  10. People rip the shit out of you on this board but I feel you here dude. #jesuischarliehebdo I saw that come up, disturbing but any good? Recommend?
  11. Zhao Shuzehn in The Farewell. She has never acted in anything before. Literally no one has ever heard of her. Performance may be good in your opinion (or bad in others opinions), but she is a no name actor, in a film very few people saw. FYI, The Farewell was a complete flop in the UK (home of the BAFTAs which we are discussing) and barely got a release. If she does not get nominated, that is not due to racism. It is due to low profile. Certain people need to stop blaming racism for their favourite performances not making it to the award nominations.
  12. How can one performance be "more deserving" than another? Other than what an individual preferred. Which is completely subjective. Also have to factor in which performances people have actually seen. It's fine to say that X black person should have been nominated but if no one has seen the movie, then they're unlikely to be nominated. Awards are completely irrelevant and arbitrary and people like you who get upset about there not being a quota of dark skinned nominees, you are being racist.
  13. Yes ofc its subjective. I'm saying in their opinion it is still bad. Good for you that you enjoyed it. The popularity of its stage musical is nothing to do with what I am saying. Never mind.
  14. Explain yourself then? As I said, if those 5 performances are what people genuinely thought to be the best performances, then why does it matter whether they are white or black. Am I correct in assuming that you would not be calling the voters as racist for voting in two Lupita Nyongo performances in the same category?
  15. So that vehicle is going to serve as some transport in avatar 2? That mercedes logo is not gonna feel out of place and obvious product placement in the film.
  16. So even if the voters thought that Margot Robbie's performances were fantastic, Margot does not deserve to win awards because she is white?
  17. What scores has hanz simmer done which are "helped" by "his friends"?
  18. I realise it has not changed. I think critics probably realise that. It's still bad. Whether critic saw it as a movie, or a stage show, or an album, or a TV show - regardless of format, these are legitimate complaints / criticisms. And yes, its like 4th longest running stage show. Like I said, I think the general audience does not like Cats. It is more of a niche thing, because of the style/subject etc. Equally, Les Mis is just as long running, but lends itself to a general audience. And in contrast, Rocky Horror Show goes for 40 years or whatever, doesn't mean it is appealing to general audience. Every year I watch The Room in the cinema. It's been in cinemas for 17 years. Doesn't mean that general audience loves it, it means there is a fandom / cult following that likes it.
  19. You may not bother to, but that doesn't change whether it is good or bad. I don't really know what you're trying to get at kris. I mean it's certainly true that if you already like the musical, you will probably enjoy this adaptation. But "that's the same with most adaptations" except that most musicals which get adapted to film are ones that general audiences would actually enjoy in the first place, unlike Cats.
  20. I'm at work, so not gonna post it, but please imagine that below this sentence is the gif of Randy from South Park jizzing over his computer screen .
  21. Is that not legitimate criticism, though...? Just because something has a fan following and popular, doesn't mean you have to think it is good. Michael Bay's Transformers have an audience who enjoys them, does that mean I can't say they are awful? I acknowledge that the Cats film is the same as the musical; so I suspect that I as I think the film is crap, I think the musical is crap. The songs are awful, the way they introduce 1 character and move on, does not work at all, for me. I have no doubt I'd feel that way whether I watched the film or the stage musical.
  22. I agree with this take, the criticism of the film is completely overblown and exaggerated. I was severely bored and it is a competitor for worst-of-the-year but the CGI being "disgusting" or "horrifying" etc is just nonsense
  23. Calendar views and inflation adjustment need to be added to The-Numbers, hopefully they are able to do this. I would think its not difficult to add calendar view since they already have the dailies listed. I'm surprised The-Numbers has not improved their site much since BOM shut down in October but I guess probably just one guy running the website, things take time. At least they are aware they now have more traffic and more potential responsibility.
  24. Will be quite a few on 31 October. Halloween last year was embarrassing the number of people I saw with the Arthur Fleck outfit. Awful.
